Sherman Hemsley is George Jefferson. Even on Amen, he was pretty much George Jefferson as a reverend. He was a Deacon, but I digress. My answer and to me, THE answer: Curtis Armstrong can win a dump truck full of Oscars, he will forever be known as Booger.

Maybe she could do something about that. Perhaps she could be a regular on a show that 18 million people watch each week. I'm a HUGE Big Bang Theory fan and She's still Blossom. And I know a lot of people who refer to her as such. I know that. But the point of the thread is if I put up a pic of Wayne Night you'd probably think of Newman first. Kinda like if I post this guy. You'll probably think of Winston from Ghosbusters first. Despite the fact that He's in the Crow and the Warden in OZ. He'll always be Warden Glenn to me...it was Warden Glenn, right? The Warden from Oz, whatever. Close. It was Warden Leo Glynn

He's got Reverend Jim and Uncle Fester on his resume' too. Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk Roger Moore as James Bond Roger Moore is also famously known for playing The Saint as well. I thought about posting that, but really that role means nothing to most of us stateside. I am sure that most Americans have never seen Peter Cushing in anything other than Star Wars.

Keanu Reeves as Ted Logan. Sure, some will argue about him being Neo, but hear me out. I can watch "Speed," I can watch "The Matrix" movies, I can watch "John Wick" or "Point Break," hell, or even "A Walk In The Clouds," he will always be Ted to me.

Viggo has a ton of roles now that offset him being seen as just Aragorn, also. As I understand it the OP wasn't asking us to name actors who did one popular role and nothing else, but actors whose most popular role vastly outstrips the rest. Viggo has had a very solid career both before and after LOTR, Aragorn is by far his most well-known role. He became pretty big after Eastern Promises for the fight scene with his Wang hanging out, so eh, it's not something that necessarily overshadows the rest of his career. That's what I assume OP was aiming at. Like if you see Viggo in History of Violeence, you aren't really thinking that's Aragorn. Whereas if you see like Linda Hamilton in something, you'really seeing Sarah Connor play that person.

Julia Louis Dreyfus as Elaine from Seinfeld (I'm aware of her emmys from Old Christine and Veep) Heather Langencamp as Nancy from Nightmare on Elm Street Bruce Campbell as Ash from Evil Dead I disagree with these. I feel that Julia Louis Dreyfus has separated herself from her Seinfeld role in a way that no one else from that show has managed to. Heather Langencamp is, first and foremost, Marie Lubbock to me. Bruce Campbell is Sam Axe as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if many people (at least in America) see Rowan Atkinson and immediately think Mr. Bean

Richard Karn will always be Al Borland.
Red Foreman will always be Red Foreman (I don't even know his real name) Even in his new show I keep waiting for him to call someone a Dumbass.
And in the same show. Wilmer Valderamma will always be Fez.

Sherman Hemsley is George Jefferson. Even on Amen, he was pretty much George Jefferson as a reverend. Deacon. Not sure if it's sad that I remember that show so well (or the show it spun off from, 227) or not, but I do. Connery as Bond, of course. Richard Moll as Bull Shannon.

Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso Nothing against Johnny Cade, but he's stuck as Daniel-san. The Todd's here, and he wants to high-five your ass.

Yep, Langenkamp is Marie Lubbock to me too.
Kurtwood Smith is Clarence Bodicker. As well as Ray Wise is Leon Nash. And the guy who was on ER who lost his arm and had a helicopter fall on him, they will always be the Robocop crew with Weller and Nancy.
Dolph Lundgren is Drago and the lame Punisher. Also, I think of Brandon Lee as his sidekick in Showdown in Little Tokyo.

Red Foreman will always be Red Foreman (I don't even know his real name) Even in his new show I keep waiting for him to call someone a Dumbass. Maybe it's because I was never a big 70s Show fan, but I always think of Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker (from Robocop) first.

Watching Seinfeld now, and John Hurley is Peterman for life.
And Brenda Strong will be the heiress to the Oh Henry candybar fortune and a bra-less wonder, Sue Ellen Mischke.
