The guy was hot for about a year, then got exposed as a blatant joke thief, then I haven't really heard from him since.

Well basically he lost some weight and he tried a come back several years ago (he was in several movies and a stand up special), but none of it took. I think it's just that he has the taint of being a joke thief and none of his material was particularly innovated. He's basically in that Jeff Dunham and Larry "The Cable Guy" level. They do amazing with their core audiences, but they're hardly groundbreakers like a Louie CK, Dave Chapelle, or Jerry Seinfeld.

I think his "joke" about black people after Hurricane Katrina was the final straw.

Even without the joke stealing thing I don't think is public fame would have lasted all that long. Clearly Mind of Mencia was Comedy Central trying to retain something of the Chapelle's Show audience. Only he was far less funny.

Yeah. He tours around doing stand up and still draws at places like the FunnyBone or other chains.
Sadly he's doing alright for himself.

He had a decent delivery, except he stole majority of his material from other comedians. I personally found his stuff downright offensive, which I get most comedians are - but at least are funny ( like Louis CK & Dave Chappelle) . Joe Rogan exposed his plagiarizing ass many times ** Language ** www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdugSUFbzws

I fell for it. I remember he was the host of some way early 90's Latino Comedey slam on HBO. Great stuff. It was a one off Def Comedey jam. His come back thing with Comedey central was transparent and it annoyed me so I didn't get into it at all. Then when the plagiarism stuff came out it didn't bother me because I was not invested in him on any level. If he never comes back to TV nothing will be lost

He actually sells out arenas outside of what you would expect to be his target market.

Edge was on Mind of Mencia. That's the saddest thing of all.

My least favorite comedian alive, so I'm happy if he just disappears from the world.

He sucked. I remember when he would even tell those in the audience who weren't laughing, "You guys just didn't get it"
