*Second time I have to type this after accidentally clicking the home banner and losing everything I typed*
Was going to avoid all forums and news sites tonight since I'm sure people aren't happy, but I want to avoid negativity for the time being. However, I also am always intrigued by the strange but true facts about the Royal Rumble matches (as well as other WWE things) and figure there's probably a need for some positivity (again, haven't even checked other threads and don't intend to) so I thought I'd try to provide 10 unique facts about the 2015 Royal Rumble I noticed while watching.
1. With The Miz being the first person eliminated, the Royal Rumble continues a trend set at the first Royal Rumble where the first person eliminated has always been one of the first five entrants.
2. Bubba Ray Dudley had never been in a Royal Rumble match prior to tonight. In fact, neither of The Dudley Boyz had ever competed in a Royal Rumble. The closest a Dudley had been was Spike in 2004, but he was beat up by Kane before entering.
3. Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Rusev, and The Big Show were responsible in part for 24 of the 29 eliminations. The only 5 who were not affected by these 4 men were The Miz, R-Truth, Tyson Kidd, Bad News Barrett, and Cesaro.
4. As much as WWE promotes that it usually takes many men to throw Big Show over the top rope at the Royal Rumble, Big Show has never been eliminated by more than a single person in every Royal Rumble. That continued tonight with Reigns eliminating Show near the end.
5. With Hunico playing the role of Sin Cara, the Sin Cara character is now the 3rd in Royal Rumble history to have been in multiple Rumbles played by different people.
6. 14% of all Royal Rumbles have had a spot where Cody Rhodes and Goldust have tried to eliminate one another (that's 4/28 including tonight).
7. Roman Reigns has a total of 17 eliminations in only his first two Royal Rumble matches. That is by far the most anyone has ever had in their first two matches.
8. Diamond Dallas Page is actually not the oldest man to compete in a Royal Rumble. At the age of 58, DDP is the 2nd oldest man to ever compete in a Rumble, behind only Jimmy Snuka in 2008.
9. It had been a full 10 years since an entrant had his Royal Rumble spot stolen by another wrestler. The last time it had happened was in 2005 when Kurt Angle scared Nunzio into giving him his number. The last time it had been done by physical force was in 2004 when Mick Foley essentially stole Test's number by beating him up.
10. Roman Reigns was officially announced as facing Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania. The last time the main event was officially announced immediately after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view's ending was in 1998 when Stone Cold vs Shawn Michaels was made official. That's a full 17 years since that last happened, even with there still only being one championship for 4 years after 1998.
