He makes a valid point, but on the other hand, general demand results in larger worlds as opposed to intimate settings. Even if you were in a fully articulate and interactive mansion, that could still limit your gameplay.
But, for smaller studios that release on Steam & Xbox Live/PS Network, it should be an idea to consider.
