Saw someone mention this in passing earlier as a hypothetical and just wanted to throw out a proper thread about this. Could it have been done? Could it have been good? What'd ya'll think?

Not sure how NXT schedules things, Monday might have been in an off day with a lot of talent out of state which makes that much harder.

Was there anything happening at the Full Sail Arena tonight? If so that would make it tougher, but not impossible. They could have waved some extra cash at them. All they need to do to get the fans is make it a free show. They might not have even have had to do that if they throw the RAW name out there. This just makes me think it's an interesting thing they could do. Like always have this in place as a backup plan in case something like this ever happens. However, I doubt WWE is anywhere near organized enough to keep this in their back pocket as a backup plan. Especially since this is only like the second time Raw has been cancelled in 22 years.

Ratings would be significantly lower if they aired NXT rather than what they aired tonight.

The way I look at it, it's a missed chance. Open up the performance center for a day to get some people to come watch NXT, set up the live event stage, and splice in the stuff from the studio. That way you don't have to reshow content from last night. Have Cole build it up like "With the upcoming WWE Network special NXT Takeover, and with the impending storms, we felt like since we had to cancel our taping of Monday Night RAW, that you should still get something fresh. So tonight we will simulcast with the WWE Performance Center, featuring the stars of NXT like Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and many many more." It could have been like the time SmackDown invaded RAW because the RAW roster was stuck in Europe due to Volcanoes.

No way some of the top management would have allowed this, if you know what I mean. Jealousy is a powerful thing.

I'm sure it would have been plausible if they had more than a few hours notice to throw the whole thing together.

If they had more notice, it might work, though it might be a lot of pressure on their current applicants to put on a 3 hour show. Some guys like Itami and Zayn have experience going long, I'd imagine, but a lot of the greener guys, that's a hell of a lot of time to fill.

I think if you polled the 4m or so regular viewers of Raw, they would much rather watch the previous night's main events than new matches with the NXT guys. That's no slight on them, their time will come, but as of now I honestly don't see casual fans sitting through 3 hours of guys they've never heard of in matches that have no relevance (if they would then happy days, you could run the WWE on a literal shoestring).
Given that what they did also could be thrown together in an hour or so, you can see why they went that way.
