The Torch because I can't stand Meltzer. What is your issue with D. Meltz?

People can say whatever they will about Meltzer being incorrect about something occasionally, but that can and will happen with any sort of reporter, covering any type of industry. What you absolutely cannot say is that he doesn't know the history of the business and virtually everyone who has ever been in it, and how what happens in 2015 can be properly put in perspective. His writing to put the news into perspective (especially in cases where someone passes away and he does a career retrospective) is unmatched. Nobody else can do what he does in that department, which puts him far ahead of all of the others covering wrestling, period. Yes, even if he may have been told a title change would be happen at some pay-per-view, but the promotion decided against doing it after all, and he ended up being "wrong." Something like that doesn't erase everything else he does everyday to cover the industry incredibly well.

To those unsure, we can whittle this down to:
The Torch: "Wade, there's this thing called spell-check", and,
"This week's Observer contains more than 24,000 words!"
(I'm a Torch guy since 1995, but Dave and his crew do fine work as well.)

Meltzer writes the equivalent of a Stephen King novel (really really long one too) every month... He has gotta be in the running for the Guiness record for most words ever typed by a human.

I have never liked Meltzer and his lumping of MMA and pro wrestling. It comes off so obnoxious at times. I have always figured he does it to take digs at WWE. His New Japan coverage has also gotten to be really annoying. These days seeing how he talks about New Japan, UFC and WWE I have to say he is rivaling Bob Ryder when he worked for WCW and the early years of TNA.

Because he likes certain promotions, and dislikes others? That is every wrestling fan. He doesn't work for any of them like Ryder did (who would thus just shill for them due to the paycheck).

Well he can't just talk about one or two promotions. He's a journalist, he has to take a broad look at the landscape, and talk about and study all the different aspects of the industry.
