Whenever watching Ron Simmons' WCW World Title victory, look at the front row facing the hard camera. A black guy in attendance who just comes out of no where and jumps so high that he damn near clears the guard rail! Between the fact that it's a babyface unexpectedly winning the World Title (who wasn't supposed to be in the match as he replaced an "injured" Sting) against this monster in Vader in a major African-American hotbed like Atlanta, it's just the perfect storm for a huge crowd pop!

It's a shame Ron Simmons seems to have very bittersweet feelings about it and prefers to think of his WWE career. I guess I can't blame him, as he was booked very poorly once winning the title, basically as an afterthought.

Maybe I thought this because I remember Foley mentioning in Have A Nice Day how Bill Watts wanted to promote The Omni as "The Madison Square Garden of the south" and I probably thought Simmons winning the title was part of this strategy (although Simmons was used in this strategy by talking up his house show title defense against Rude at The Omni at the expense of his Clash of The Champions XX defense against Cactus Jack in his TV promos).

So can anyone tell which episodes specifically did they include in this?

I don't wanna rain on the parade, but that promo Ernie Ladd cut in GCW...um, what on planet Earth is he talking about? Something, something...egg-suckin' dog...Ole Anderson run outta Georgia...something, something...more egg-suckin' dog...Assassin, I'm runnin' you outta Georgia.
And the man keeps adjusting the waistband of his trunks every 15 seconds. If not for Gordon Solie in his hangover shades, I'd have nothing to share, egg-suckin' dog!
(By the way, the dream match of Ladd/Samoans vs. Andre/Dusty/JYD is the same one from the Mid-South DVD.)
I like Ernie, but they need better promos from him.

I've found that wrestling in that era was ridiculously all about saying people sucked eggs for some reason.

After Simmons wins the belt and he climbs the turnbuckles, look in the crowd for a woman in a red shirt and glasses waving her arm so frantically you think it's going to pop off. Her enthusiasm rivals the front row blue shirt jumper. What an amazing moment though. If there's one wrestling crowd i'd love to be in, this is up there.

I checked out the mid-south episodes, good stuff (i find it ironic that on the 1983 episode, JYD saves Jim Duggan with a 2X4. On a side note, seeing a young, skinny as a twig, rick rude is pretty surreal).

They should have Vince talk about Bobo Brazil, 90 minutes later they cut him off.
