I love how the pictures of the kid seem to caption themselves. Frame 1 - "For real?" Frame 2 - "For real..." Frame 3 - "..." Frame 4 - "Damn."

Between this and the NFL player who beat his child and was actually defended by some people including Charles Barkley, there is an unsettling theme here of black parents using punishments (whipping and de-humanising humiliation) that were regularly applied during the days of slavery. Good thing Charles Barkley speaks for all black people so everyone else can easily come to conclusions about the parenting practices of the black community as a whole Yeah, because that's exactly what I said. Verbatim.

This shit is hilarious, I remember seeing a picture on the net of a dad whose douchey early teen son acted like he was a grown ass man and the dad shaved his head like that so he could at least look the part as a grown ass man. EDIT: www.epicfail.com/2014/05/16/son-fail-parenting-win/ There we go, language warning since there's uncensored F bombs.

Verbatim. You used this man giving his son a haircut, Adrian Peterson beating his child, and Charles Barkley of all people defending it *The guy who said slavery wasn't that bad verbatim* to come to the conclusion that there is an 'unsettling' theme in the black community where everyone is accepting of child abuse and humiliation, not only that, you were able to somehow connect this back to slavery.

Great idea! I'm sure humiliating your own kid for an elongated period of time is going to pay off when his social life gets destroyed in such an already visceral environment. Just look forward to the days that he comes home with an emotionally blank look on his face, says nothing, stays in his room all day, and cries off and on because people will undoubtedly pick on him and verbally/physically bully him because of this.
You may as well paint a target on him and say "Please make my life miserable! I deserve it because sometimes I misbehave and get bad grades. This is just my parents way of helping me instead of confronting the problem in a mature PARENTAL-like manner. It's all my fault I'm like this and not the people who are supposed to teach me right from wrong!"
Talking to junior about why something he did was wrong or even trying to help him with his homework once in a while? Naaaah. Just make him look like an outdated reference and things will just fix themselves up! A few unneeded childhood scars lingering around when he's older and wiser won't do any harm! That's life for ya, eh? I didn't know making life for your kid marginally worse was what a good parent did. Hmh. Guess you learn something new everyday!
...It looks pretty funny though.

Nothing at all related to your assertion of wider generalisation.

This is basically a "scarlet letter" type of thing. Let's do it to adults and see how funny it is then They already have it for adults, its happening to me naturally.

Reminds me of the old Richard Pryor bit.....talking about his dad's punishments. Richard: I decided I wasn't gonna take his whippings no more. [They proceed to get in a fight] "I'm a man, I don't gotta this shit no more!" His dad spins him down "Dad! I'm your son, I'm your son!" Dad: Oh, no, you was a man a minute ago motherf***er!

You mean like, uh...grounding them, or...well, actually, ANY form of punishment, whatsoever, for a child? No matter what punishment you give a kid, anything down to not letting your kid watch TV or play video games for an hour can be defined as "making their life marginally worse".

You haven't lived until you've had at least one bad haircut. That's why hats were created.
I'm more of a "sandwich board on the main road" kinda parent, myself.

This is basically a "scarlet letter" type of thing. Let's do it to adults and see how funny it is then They already have one for adults. It's called being a parolee. If something like this can help prevent them from becoming one in the future, then I'm all for it. There are also the questionable practices like the red signs in front of sex offenders' yards, or the pink license for illegal immigrants. Or parents could just ground their stupid kids from friends and video games. That usually works too.
