A combination of not having the consoles available when it was hot and so many games still being released for both PS4 and PS5 isn't going to help the sales figures.

Not to mention that PS5 still doesn't have USB drive game save support for its games, but does for PS4, because most people would rather not have to pay for a Playstation Plus subscription just to back up their game saves in case of a flood, fire, or system malfunction.

I had no idea about the USB thing. Now I'm not so sad I never got a PS5.

The PS5 still has barely even been used for anything. Utterly pointless to even consider doing a new console any time soon.

IGN is going to IGN because the full context is that a PS6 isn't coming until probably 2028.

There is the system backup feature for PS5 game saves, but it is a way slower process than backing up the saves to a USB drive would have been.

But yeah, both Sony and Microsoft launching new, very expensive consoles in the middle of a pandemic that severely disrupted the global economy and the supply chain maybe wasn't the best idea.

When I worked at gamestop we only reliably started getting them in literally last year in like april/may... almost 3 years after launch. and the system only started getting games launched only for this gen... around the same time. There were a few like Midnight Suns and Gotham knights.. but almost all of them if launched for the ps5 it was also on the ps4.

I have quit Avatar already. It was a Christmas present from my wife, so I feel a bit guilty
Just a big combination of everything I hate in gaming
1 - No pausing during cutscenes - check 2 - No manual save - check 3 - A shitty hunger system that you can't turn off and which expires extremeley quick (seriously, I scoffed down a ration pack, run for five minutes to my next mission and I'm already f***ing hungry?) 4 - Shit, pointless sidequests - check 5 - A crafting system which means I spend more time looking for materials than I do actually doing something fun - check 6 - Forgettable side quests - check 7 - Having to spend time grinding the pointless sidequests and crafting in order to get strong - check 8- A big beautiful open world with nothing fun or interesting to discover - check

They always make the game a complete drag because you have to take a break from fun stuff to forage for berries and it always decreases way too quickly.

Finally had some time recently to sit down and play Resident Evil 4 remake. Easily the best 2023 release I've played.
The original was the first game I played to completion twice, something I very rarely do. The only others I can think of since then are Last of Us 1, Breath of the Wild and Far Cry 3.
I've played through the remake 4 times and think I'm ready to do a S+ run for the cat ears 🤣

I am playing the Resident Evil 2 remake. I never played the original. It is an excellent game. Those f***ing dogs though. I hate those f***ing dogs.

Have made a decision to cut back on immediately buying games I want … there’s a lot coming, but I siting for deals or until the backlog is done.
Like I won’t get FFVII Part 2 until I beat FFXVI, and let me tell you … I strongly strongly strongly dislike this chore of a game. Battling is fun enough but my god, everything in between is such a slog. And the side quests are some of the most menial inconsequential padding I’ve ever played.

I am glad someone else dislikes it lol I thought it was terrible. But I also found the combat boring and repetitive too. I quit as soon as the only interesting character died.

Hoe to completely kill a game--introduce Mr X an invulnerable character who turns a tense, scary horror game where you don't know what is around any corner but which you can explore at leisure into a boring chase simulator. Like, can you please f*** off? I just want to explore and solve puzzles without needing to creep around at a snail's pace to avoid triggering this giant douchebag.
Reminds me of the caretaker from that school horror game a few years ago. Just an annoyance and a fun sapper.

Some months ago on the PS Plus monthly games they had Lego Harry Potter collection remastered for the PS4. I never had any immediate plans to play them but I figured they were free, why not, so I downloaded them but never played them. The other day I saw them there and decided to give them a quick play. They’re extremely easy (obviously because they’re mainly aimed at a younger player) and they’re pretty buggy too.
And just insanely fun to play! And the cutscenes are so charming as well. I’d never played any of the Lego games before but having seen my nephews playing one of the games, always thought there was something to them. I’m not going to rush out and get any more of the games or anything but when I only have a half-hour or so spare to play a game, the call of Lego Harry Potter is strong.

That's pretty much all Lego video games. Easy but fun, they're great just kick back and chill games with an IP you love. That said, Lego Skywalker Saga definitely needed more to reduce how repetitive it became.

Helldivers 2 might just be the shot in the arm Sony needed when it comes to their recent big game output feeling so similar, great game
