Is it time for WWE to start considering every few months to air an NXT special in place of a Raw or Smackdown episode? The specials so far haven't disappointed and it would seem to be a good idea for WWE to showcase developmental in place of one their episodes maybe once or twice throughout the year. In terms of marketing it will be good for the network as well, as WWE can hype you can only see the weekly episodes on the network. What are your thoughts?
Edit: This is not to talk about them replacing Raw or Smackdown, i'm talking in terms of marketing for the network and showcasing their development system.

If SyFy and USA are paying for Raw and Smackdown, they don't want anything else in that slot. WWE though can work it out with those networks to air a NXT special in a timeslot that is not being used.

Oh of course there's the other side to that, i'm just talking if all things being equal. Could it happen, would it happen.

NXT is developmental brand only. Is it a great alternative? Yes it's better than any other wrestling show on the planet. BUT from a tv executive standpoint. They don't watch this stuff, they aren't fans. They just know ratings. And NXT was on Syfy once, and after a few seasons was cancelled. It may have been rebranded, but it's still shares it's brand and name with a failed show they already aired.
Furthermore NXT is as good as it is because it isn't on national television. Once the "milions and millions" of WWE fans in the "universe" are presented with it Vince, Dunn and whomever else would have to polish it and change it to reach the main brand expectations and it would be just another #wwesucks movement.
Why are people so intnet of making nxt sell out and become the man? Enjoy the show while we have it.

We all know what would happen if they became a national tv program it would be ECW all over again. Please read back what I said in my post is that they could show a special once or twice a year and this could be a tool to continue to help sell the network.

Don't have to re read anything as I stated my opinion as well. And that is that once it NXT would be broadcast on national tv, the Dunn producing crew would f*** it all up. It would need polished. Think about that divas match with Charlotte to hype their "ppv" she was jobbed out in minutes. That's what Vince and company htink of NXT>

would never happen.
NXT is a very niche product despite what this board would have you believe.
it used to be the lead in for the live raws in the UK and it did awful in comparison rating wise.

I'd rather the regular one-hour NXT episodes took the place of the first hour of Raw.
