Lashley was another victim of the too much, too soon booking and being a square peg forced into a round hole. Get him a hype man and have him go out and smash people and he's a great talent, try and make him cut jokey promos and it falls apart as he lacks the voice and mic skills for it. Honestly, if he hadn't had torpedo his own career, someone like AW would've been the perfect hype man for Lashley.

Yeah Lashley was just pushed too hard, too quickly for someone with his limited experience. Not everyone can be Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar right off the bat, but Lashley did make big gains from his debut in WWE to his final appearance less than 2 years later.

Lashley was good, but not nearly good enough for the push he got.
Now, however? I think he's improved enough that with the right booking and a good manager, he could be more than worthy of a big push if he ever comes back to WWE. He's been doing very well for himself in TNA.

Why was Lashley ever released anyhow?

Why was Lashley ever released anyhow? Partially because they kept delaying his return after his injury, and partially because of something to do with Kristal Marshall. He left on his own.

He sucked. It's clear that Vince took one look at him, and he reacted like that GIF that I love so much.

I still think his release was really a part of the post-Benoit situation and the "elevated enzymes" that he perhaps might still have been "suffering" from.

I absolutely loved Lashley, I thought he was great. His crap mic skills didn't even bother me, he was just a bad ass. I was hoping he would win the WWE title in that match with Cena.

It has been said that Michael Hayes continued employment in a position of power also played a part in Lashley's decision to leave.

Elevated Liver Enzymes is not necessarily a euphamism. It is a legitimate medical condition. My friend had it... from all accounts it wasn't a fun time.

I thought he should've been revealed as Vince's bastard (or, bathturd) son. That was probably too much continuity.

Aaaaaaaaaaand here we go again. Well, it's a ridiculous argument. If one of your parents is black and you identify yourself as black, you're black. That's it. Look up the one drop rule.

However, I cannot imagine that your friend and a couple of co-workers/classmates had it at the same time.

I f***ing loved Lashley when I was younger. Thought he was awesome in the ring and has an awesome look. I thought it was goofy how his entrance video said SOFT-SPOKEN but he was, so I guess it made sense. I didn't realize he was a huge joke to everyone in the IWC until a few years later when I started running in those circles.

I enjoyed Bobby.
He was a likable guy and decent wrestler that SO wasn't ready for the push he got. Dude had quite possibly the least dynamic personality in the history of wrestling. It was just silly.

He knew how to get the fans behind him. He was a good athlete and I really enjoyed his matches with Finlay.

Lashley was very much like Roman Reigns is at the moment: pushed strong before he's ready, but you can see the potential he has.
Lashley was the highlight of TNA last year and he finally reached his full potential. I expect Reigns in 4-5 years to absolutely fantastic and one of the best in the business.

Put Bobby Lashley under a mask, keep him silent with an ever-present obnoxious manager and there you have a credible heel at or near the top of the card.
I would rechristen him Ugg Mugg-Fugg, and his manager can be The Tool.

The story goes that John Laurinaitis brought him to TV (SmackDown taping) for some reason, Vince saw him and decided to put him on TV immediately. He had not been in developmental very long, and most working there thought Lashley was not ready yet. Perhaps Lashley would have been better served not to debut all of a sudden like that.
