What's the idea of putting them on the developmental brand? what's to develop? they've already been in the WWE. Would they put Angle on NXT?

likely because NXT is touring outside Florida soon and need some known names to sell tickets.

They'd be lost in the already dead midcard on the main show, so putting them on NXT to possibly help with the guys there seems wiser.

Probably because they are not back full time and this is just them showing up for a few months, helping the future talent, and then going back to the indies.
Also the becoming trainers thing too.

Another thing that helps for these guys to be on NXT for a few months instead of WWE main roster for a few months is they don't have to go on the road for a lot of the time (most of NXT is strictly in the state of Florida) and considering the crowd, would you rather be a part-timer who gets meh reactions on the main shows or a part-timer who gets great reaction (whether heel or face) in NXT.
I think NXT may be more preferable for older guys who are going to be part-timers.

Plus, they can still tear it up. Rhyno and Zayn apparently brought the house down at the last tapings. If I was a guy at their level, getting a vet role on NXT would be preferred to jobbing in 5 min matches on Main Event, which is the alternative for them in the WWE.

Right. One of the biggest problems with NXT in terms of transitioning workers over to WWE is that it's almost all indie guys and rookies working together. They need to keep a small handful of former bigtime guys with years of experience working with them to really get proper training and preparation.

They're trainers disguised as on-air talent. It's a brilliant move. The audience likes seeing them again, and the less experienced guys can learn a great deal working with them in TV matches.

Instead of Rhino and Kendrick, just have Kendrick on the roster twice imo.

Yeah, it's not like they are saying "we need to develop your character again", it's more "Hey, we need you to come in and help develop these newer guys so wrestling can be fine in the future".

The fact NXT seems like a fun place to be rather than on the main roster with all the bullshit creative decisions probably helps.

I'd like to see Goldust have a run down in NXT. That has the potential to be amazing.

I take it they are only wanted to work with the developmental talent. They aren't wanted as potential superstars to push on the main roster. Of course it could lead to that if they impress the right people. I think it's a very good idea to bring in stars of the past to work in NXT.
