This isn't another "Daniel Bryan needs to be main eventing thread"
I have serious concerns for Wrestlemania though. I know it's going to be a spectacle. I know it's going to be watched by over a million people. I know that it has the potential to be exciting. But will it have even 1 GREAT match?
In years past you could always look at the Wrestlemania card and see one match that was definitely going to steal the show or at least had no chance of being bad. I'm not sure that match is there this year. Where is the match that people look at and think that this could be the match that carries Wrestlemania?
I know it may not seem like much but every good worker has been paired up with someone who is limited. Brock is a good worker but I fear his match against Reigns will mirror his match against Goldberg, especially if it becomes a known fact that Brock is leaving again. HHH and Sting could have put on a great match ten years ago but neither has wrestled in a long time and while it will be a spectacle, I can't imagine a five star masterpiece. Undertaker and Wyatt might be ok but 'Taker is old and Wyatt isn't a great worker. Cena and Rusev was simply ok last night and I could see it being a little bit better at Wrestlemania but I doubt it's a show stealer.
What does that leave us? Bryan will figure in to the plans, perhaps against Sheamus in a match that I suppose could steal the show if it's given time. Orton, Dolph, Ryback, Rollins, Big Show, and Kane will be doing something but I doubt it's given much time. Ambrose and Barrett will probably have an IC title match but again, how much time will that be given?
I'm concerned that there isn't a match that looks like it will be a show stealer, even if it doesn't end up being one. Just off the top of my head I'm struggling to think of a single Wrestlemania that didn't have that one match that everyone knew was either a big enough spectacle to steal the show or had the potential to be a technical masterpiece. Hogan/Andre, Savage/Steamboat, Dibiase/Savage, Hogan/Warrior, Savage/Warrior, Piper/Hart, Savage/Flair, Bret/Owen, Shawn/Bret, Bret/Austin, Benoit/Jericho/Angle, Benoit/Angle, Hogan/Rock, Lesnar/Angle, Guerrero/Angle, Benoit/Michaels/HHH, Michaels/Angle, Undertaker/Michaels.
Those were either huge spectacle matches or had the potential to be 5-star matches, and I"m sure I've forgotten a few. The Wrestlemania's without those type of matches usually end up pretty forgettable. I'm worried this years is going to end up forgettable, which is unfortunate because they have the talent on the roster to have one of those great match ups, but they're wasting the chance.
