I speak of the film Equilibrium starring Christian Bale. It came out in 02 in a very small release, and is pretty damn cool. After WW3 the people that are left decide that in order to stomp out violence and perserve humanity they have to give up on feelings of anykind, so they outlaw it and give everyone drugs to "mellow them out" so to speak and get rid of anything that could cause emotions like books and movies and such. It's sort of 1984 + Brave New World + Fahrenheit 451. Bale is one of the enforcers of these laws known as Clerics, and they fight with a style called "Gun-Kata" which is like a dance with guns and it's very cool to see Anyway, when Bale misses one of his anti-emotion drug treatments all hell breaks loose as he joins the rebels that want to live like regular humans again, and the fun begins If you like the Matrix, but wish it had a story that made more sense check out this flick, it's really worth it. Just to get your motor running heres a clip Gun fight

Yeah, this is a pretty good flick.
I had been really excited that Kurt Wimmer (the director) was going to get an actual budget and studio backing, and then he made Ultraviolet and ruined my hopes that he would turn out to be something special.

Wow, that gun fight was so incredibly ludicrous, it sapped any enjoyment out of it for me. I mean.... wow, that took a solid effort to make so many bullets so boring. It's just way too farfetched to believe that 20-some guys with automatic rifles couldn't shoot a slow-moving guy in white.

I havent' seen this one, but is it really any worse than any others?

hmm, I'd say the most realistic gun fight in a move would be from Blackhawk Down

I havent' seen this one, but is it really any worse than any others? It's so far out there that it completely destroys the suspension of disbelief. It's like they couldn't have taken me out of the scene any more if they'd included a ticker on the bottom of the screen, "THIS IS SOME FAKE S*** RIGHT HERE". You get what I'm saying? I haven't seen the movie, and the story does sound interesting. But this gun "fight" is just a bunch of guys in armor standing still until they get shot by a guy slowly dancing in between them.

I own this film on DVD, and freakin' love it. Anyway, not ALL the fights are long like that anyway. How about the final sword fight with Brandt?
That would be the face removal.

This is a really cool movie. And even if it did get a big release, all anyone would have done is screamed "MATRIX RIPOFF" and it would have never gotten any love either.
I actually liked the fight scenes in it. I felt that it was more of a fantasy world, so regular rules can be bent.
If you really want a bad gun scene, what about Ultraviolet? That movie is just so bad that its funny.

Oh don't get me wrong, it is enjoyable, just for all the wrong reasons. And the flaming sword fight was pretty cool too.
But anyway, Equilibrium is definately a movie to check out. It has a pretty good story and very good acting, especially from Bale.
