Malcolm In The Middle intro plays 1-2 seconds of the Bret Hart Vs Chris Benoit match from I believe the Owen Hart tribute match. A fantastic movie titled "Pay It Forward" has a kid in it who is a huge wrestling fan. In the film he's playing with wrestling figures, watching WCW Monday Nitro (In 2000!) and tries to get his mothers boyfriend to take him to a WCW show. He also has Buff Bagwell and Goldberg posters on his walls. If we're talking actual news outlets and not just TV and movie there was an angle that Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair did in 2009 where Ric Flair beat the crap out of Hulk Hogan at a press conference advertising the Hulkamania Tour. This made the national news and if I recall correctly was treated as real (Although a bit of tongue in cheek as well). TNA also made national news when video of their tryouts in Australia played on national news. Jeff Jarrett appeared on Rove Live and chased Rove McManus around the studio with a guitar trying to hit him with it. Some of the WWA guys appeared on national television here on the "NRL Footy Show". Pretty uneventful but Scott Steiner did lift up the host, press him above his head and toss him over a table and onto the floor (Probably a mat) I think the WCW match in the Malcolm in the Middle intro is actually from their WCW Mayhem encounter. I remember back when the show first aired because Benoit had on a different color of tights for the Owen Hart Tribute match. It was 15 years ago so I could be rememebering it wrong. Would love if someone could confirm either way

ESPN anchor Robert Flores makes frequent wrestling references on-air. He once did a 30-second bit in which he correlated the Miami Heat's "big three" with the nWo. He also referenced Lebron James' "heel turn."
The Bushwhackers appeared on an episode of "Family Matters," wrestling a match with Carl and Urkel.
Randy Savage had a "match" with Harvey the Wonder Hamster on "The Weird Al Show."
ICP (who, of course, are wrestlers themselves) had a few lines in their song "What is a Juggalo:"
"A Hulkamaniac He powerbombs motherf***ers into thumbtacks People like him 'til they find out he's unstable He Sabu'd your momma through a coffee table"

HIMYM Marshal dressed as Ultimate Warrior. And use of the winged eagle in the same show. Not really a non-WWE reference But if we're going that... Barney's Diamond Studded Suit was called the DiBiase. A reference my father found hilarious

Capt. Lou was on an episode of Hey Dude back in the day On Salute Your Shorts, Sgt. Slaughter was mentioned as well. So was Hulk Hogan when Giant Jim taunted Sponge. "I might ask how many hairs there are on Hulk Hogan's head!" Nickelodeon's "My Brother and Me" had many wrestling references. One episode opened with Dee Dee and his friends watching some WCW action circa 1993; you could see a brief clip of Harlem Heat in action. And the dad on that show was definitely a wrestling fan, making references to Ric Flair, Greg Valentine, and Thunderbolt Patterson. How about during a Major League Baseball game? During a Pirates/Reds game in Cincinnati, broadcaster Tim Neverett said that wrestling would be taking place that night at the Riverfront Coliseum (meaning TNA Lockdown). He also said that "just across the river [in Kentucky] they're having the Piratefest of pro wrestling." For those who don't know, Piratefest is a fan convention the team holds before the season starts; think of it as their version of WWE Axxess. I later found out it was TNA's fan convention that he was talking about.

The guys I mentioned were not WWE employees at the time, unless you want to be pedantic and say WWF isn't WWE.

I just watched a movie called Army of the Damned (that was surprisingly better than I thought it would be) that had Thea Trinidad, Tommy Dreamer and Maria Kanellis in it. It was schlock but it was refreshing in that it didn't take itself seriously but still didn't fall into the "completely stupid" category.
I got the movie knowing nothing about it besides that it starred Sully Erna (lead singer of Godsmack) and Tony Todd (one of my horror idols)... the wrestling connection was a pleasant surprise.

there's a family guy episode where peter goes to a macho man randy savage match, in like 2005 or even later, at some unnamed promotion
there's also a dexter's lab episode where monkey battles rasslor (voiced by macho man randy savage) for the universal title or something
great, great ep
