Re watching the show. Wow, love the buildup. Didn't realize it at the time. Bryan vs The authority. Cena vs Wyatt. Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar, awesome work.

The Bryan-Authority feud was the best Mania build they had done in years and years, and they were forced to do it against their will.

The Bryan / Authority storyline was great, Bray / Cena had its moments but had some weird parts that went nowhere (remember that knee injury angle?) and got outright awful post-Mania, Shield / Outlaws and Kane was decent for what it was but the build was a pretty last-minute thing, Taker / Lesnar... Given the payoff the build-up was kind of genius in hindsight but watching it with the result feeling like a foregone conclusion it felt pretty awful with how Taker was owning him week in and week out yet Heyman kept saying over and over, "Doesn't matter, can't actually beat him."

Bryan and Authority felt shallow as f*** to me, especially with how nothing changed and Steph/HHH remain to this day the center of things and Bryan was an afterthought more or less the whole time.

Taker/Lesnar buildup was rather weak, but in hindsight it was awesome because noone thought Brock could defeat Taker at freakin Mania with that buildup.

But then it's even more crazy because it actually followed the trope of the person with all the momentum losing the match... Yet people still didn't see it coming.

If you thought Bryan was an afterthought at WM 30, I really am not sure how much more he could have been the focus outside of a flashing picture of his face in the corner or something. I just wish he hadn't done that ill-advised forklift spot at Extreme Rules, even if it was his idea. Though I guess at the pace he was going, it was going to happen sooner or later.

I meant afterward. In the whole Authority angle the portion where Bryan was intentionally at the focus of it is a blip.

I know that by that point, having Bryan face Orton yet again would have been infuriating, but I wish they had waited to do Shield vs Evolution a little longer. That would have likely helped matters.

I'm just saying that whatever planet Bryan Wyatt in February and BrieBry on the Haunted Lake in Kane constitute a good angle on is not majestic.

I wasn't thrilled with the WM 30 build while it was happening.
Now I'm like...

At the time, people said it was awful. Most things get praise later when slammed at the time.
Only times I think are just disliked at mid 90's and 2009 and even then, good matches save them being a write off.

It was fascinating to watch, honestly. In a matter of weeks, the product went from being awful to being great. Then, not long after Mania, it went right back to being shit.
What happened?

I don't think we'll get a WM to surpass that one for quite a while.

Yeah Bryan/Authority never clicked for me either. It didn't get Bryan over at all, he was already f***ing crazy over. All that angle did was suck the fun out of his push. I liked Bryan more before the Authority even existed. I liked wrestling more before the Authority even existed.

Can you imagine a Batista / Orton match?

Big BORING heel stable arrives after things seem to be getting on track, to make fun go away. EXCEPT ACES AND EIGHTS EVENTUALLY WENT AWAY! (EVENTUALLY BECAUSE IT SURE TOOK FOREVER TO HAPPEN)

I actually thought the buildup was pretty poor other than the Bryan storyline.
Then again I'm probably only one of a few who think WM30 wasn't that great overall. I enjoyed it but people were declaring it the greatest Mania of all time, which I think is way overboard.

I really liked that they used "In Time" for Undertaker/Lesnar, the lyrics make more sense in hindsight like the rest of the build mentioned above.
