At the time, people said it was awful. Most things get praise later when slammed at the time. Ya, it looks like the hype at the time was mixed at best. Every year we have the thread, "Does this feel like Wrestlemania". Last year, on April 2, 35% of posters said it did. 37% said some of the feuds did, and 13% said no. officialfan.proboards.com/thread/495987/feel-wrestlemaniaBut this thread describes the vibe of where the board was at around this time last year, March 7th. The consensus was that Wrestlemania was just another show now. Which is interesting when combined with the majority complaint that Mania relies too much on part-timers. What would Mania be if it was all the same guys that worked the other 11 PPVs? officialfan.proboards.com/thread/493968/wrestlemania-meaningless

I really liked that they used "In Time" for Undertaker/Lesnar, the lyrics make more sense in hindsight like the rest of the build mentioned above. I'd have enjoyed that more if they hadn't already used it for Taker vs HHH WM27 or randomly for the Fatal 4-Way WWE title match at Backlash 2008.

It being used at WM27 makes me wonder if that Undertaker and Lesnar staredown at the UFC fight was supposed to lead to a similar match, as I remember the story of the Triple H match being that while Undertaker won Triple H beat him up so bad it was like he really won, like maybe they made an offer for Lesnar to end the streak earlier or at least had the idea for it earlier. Writing it down makes it seem like a big Triple H ego stroke though...

Can you imagine a Batista / Orton match? I'd say we are getting it this year, at least in spirit.

The song was also used for Mania 27, so I wouldn't put too much thought in it. Though it is a damn awesome song. I need to rewatch the Punisher movie, it's been a long time. I actually thought that the Brock/Taker buildup sucked a dick. I didn't believe for a second that Brock had a chance and so had no investment in the match. Triple H and Shawn I believed had a shot, Punk I didn't and Brock I didn't.
