I mean WWE have guaranteed income.
they've worked out how many people will pay for access to their tape library and PPV events and that there's not much the company can do to change the number in either direction (the old "wrestling fans will watch any wrestling" addage that many within the business have said). so they have become complacent as there is no need to even give a shit about PPV's. They've basically become glorified monthly house shows (except without the happy go lucky endings ) for the networks subscribers.
Raw is 3 hours to advertise the network.
Hell even the fueds seem designed to promote the network and its archive more than anything.
WWE have basically now got a license to print money to the point where they don't have to try in the slightest.
I know there are other elements like the stubborn old man in charge, not wanting to rock the boat too much with investors and sponsors and various others as well mind, it would be naive to think anything is caused by just one problem, there's probably lots more as well as fans we will never be privy to.

They are definitely not "printing money" with the network and need a lot more subs to brake even, much less turn a profit.

I haven't watched much NXT (nothing against it, more of a time thing), but from what I hear it's pretty good and it's a network exclusive.
So just the fact there is a network doesn't preclude the product from sucking. The fact some senile out of touch f*** who has an iron hand on the product probably has a lot more to do with it.

Maybe it doesn't suck , just maybe the whole concept of wrestling it self sucks to you , or maybe it's the nostalgia factor , yeah let's go with that !

I've seen it mentioned dozens or more times that WWE have a "it's only ten bucks, who cares" policy which is ludicrous. I think when dealing with ppv they ended up only getting 10 dollars out of the 60 dollar fee after they pay their dues. The network was a way to ween that out and take all of the profits of a dwindling market.
The quality has nothing to do with the one product they have worth investing in. It has to do with Vince and company putting out terrible shows.

I get the point you're making, but I'd counter that it's still entirely possible to like the performers and like the matches, and still be disappointed in the ways in which certain talent are utilized/presented and the way in which stories are told (or not told, in far too many instances). |

I could not disagree more about the WWE sucking. It is by far and away the best thing on TV. There is not even a close second.

Hmm well right now I really like Sleepy Hollow, The flash, Arrow, Hells Kitchen, agent Carter, Marvel agents of Shield, and I Am a huge Sports fan mainly NFL. Probably the best show ever was THE West Wing before season 5. |
