TNA star T.J. "Manik" Perkins took to his Twitter in regards to recent reports stating that most talent are paid by appearance, and TNA has no live events or pay-per-views anytime soon.
"As far as I know, no one is on a per appearance deal," Perkins wrote. "I'm not, and most ppl have better deals than me. Sounds like the type of thing where if someone makes it up and enough ppl say it then it becomes 'true'... I make guaranteed money AND per appearance. I'm pretty sure everyone else does as well. Perhaps ppl get confused and think it's only one or the other, but it's actually both."
If anyone is open about talking about TNA payments, it's always TJ. I'm not sure if he's a trustworthy source, but take it for what it's worth.

Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if there's more of a middle ground in the TNA misery news. Don't get me wrong, the stuff that happened to guys like Joe, Daniels, AJ, ect sucks for them and I'm sure there are guys and girls there that have been treated unfairly or are miserable, but I also wouldn't be shocked if there are those that are genuinely happy to be there.
Not to say he's being truthful there either but I think everything is in the middle.

In his defense, those monthly Subway coupons really come in handy.

Does anyone here earn a yearly salary and get paid by the hour? Didn't think so. Manik might not be lying but it's a pretty sweet deal if he's got 2 pay cheques coming in when it should only be 1.

SO.
TNA moves to a smaller network.
Essentially stops running house shows.
The production of the TV show has suffered in almost every aspect possible.
But TNA still has money to pay guys guaranteed money AND a pay-per-appearance bonus? Including lower-card geeks like Manik?
You a motherf***ing liar, Perkins, haha. Get out of here brah, not even WWE signs regular roster guys to those kind of contracts.

I find it amusing that he says nobody is on a per appearance deal before admitting he himself is.

I'm pretty sure WWE has the same deal. You get a smaller guarantee, then pay per appearance as well (as well as royalties). Wrestling contracts don't work the same way as standard employment contracts.

Maybe he gets one paycheck as Suicide, one as Manik and one as plain ol' TJ Perkins?

Otherwise like half the roster would just go long periods without any pay, as there aren't any house shows.

That's how WWE works, they have a guarantee and they get paid a percentage of the gate of every show they wrestle on.

Only possibility I can think of is that, once they knew they were going onto a smaller network and would have less shows, they might've figured they'd have to give their wrestlers downside deals to keep them on board. They'd obviously be smaller deals than what they gave out before (hence guys like Joe and AJ leaving, guys like Anderson taking pay cuts, etc.), but maybe they felt it was the only way to guarantee that they wouldn't lose everybody overnight, basically. It'd help explain the roster being much smaller; Perkins might be saying that anybody who's there regularly gets such a deal.
That said, given how much less income the company has, it's still hard to imagine.

Most people have a yearly salary broken down into an hourly rate though.
