Makes for a potentially fun theoretical matchup. Granted, Spivey as well part his prime by then, but Undertaker was still in his peak. Although, in those pre-internet days, only a minority of fans woukd have been aware the former Mean Mark Callus and Dangerous Dan Spivey had been a tag team several years prior.

It would have probably happened, they did seem to like throwing big guys Undertaker's way.

I think a Waylon Mercy feud after Mabel would have been ideal if Spivey had been able to stay. I suppose it would do better business with Diesel v. Undertaker but the dark character of Mercy would work well with Undertaker during any time period. I think Mankind coming in was his best, though.

The feud would have really interesting to see but the matches would have probably stank the joint out.

It would have been a good way to put the Waylon Mercy character away when they were done with him, but I don't think it would have been a particularly great feud because the matches would have been horrendous. Undertaker vs. Heel Doink on the other hand ... Borne could have gotten some pretty good matches out of Taker.

If I remember correctly they were very close to having this match with Mercy watching an Undertaker match from the stage. But Mercy had to retire like a week later.

I see Bray Wyatt-Undertaker as something similar to Mercy-Undertaker.
Problem is, Taker is fragile. I'd rather he not bother to be at WM31.

Waylon Mercy is one of the more overrated characters that the WWE has produced. I do love that it's almost like Scott Hall tricked Vince with his Scarface impersonations and called everyone up and said: "This goofy motherf***er hasn't seen any movies, do your best character impersonation and get hired!"
