We do Cena as Bret Hart where he takes time off and does movies and stuff. In the mean time Ambrose starts taunting him yadda yadda yadda match at Survivor Series or some other big PPV yadda yadda turns heel on Ambrose we all know how that plays out. Getting to the heel character he does it like Bret but only that New England is the Canada in this area. He has a stable of New England based wrestlers that he calls his family while wearing Red Sox hats.

I think that really playing Cena up as appealing to some of the audience and being booed by others is as close as he'll ever get to a heel turn. Sort of like Diesel and the black glove thing. I'm surprised they haven't done more with that, honestly. It makes the kids that like him feel like they're on his team, and WWE gets to cash in on his detractors, too.

He's already a heel to half the audience. The only thing a heel turn will accomplish is changing which half of the crowd boo him.

I think the only way to get Cena to go full blown heel is to get him to acknowledge that "never give up" doesn't work anymore against Brock, Rusev etc & have him start overtly cheating & justifying it with an insincere "hustle, never give up" message.

It slowly becomes "Never Stop Hustling" as he becomes as big of a cheat as fellow Boston Cheat Bill Belicheck. To the point where Cena even starts coming out in Patriots hoodies with the sleeves cut off.

He'd have to do the Mick Foley ECW gimmick of kissing Vince's ass hardcore, having intentionally boring/bad matches, his new catchphrase would become "Spoiler:Cena Wins!", he'd insist on rapping terribly on every show, then he'd have to squash Bryan, Rollins, Ambrose, Cesaro, and Brock in a handicap match. SuperCena to comical proportions might be the only thing that does the trick and even then it might become ironically entertaining and get over in the wrong direction.

IDK, I think the smarks would still boo him if they put him against the right guys (NXT crew, Bryan, Ambrose, Ziggler, the version of Stardust we saw in that app promo, even guys lower on the totem pole like Swagger, Ryback and Mizdow) and told the right story. So of course we'd get him vs. Reigns and face Orton.
