For everyone that watched this years Academy Award winner movie: The Riggin character reminded me of Bret Hart (takes his work too seriously, lives his gimmick/character, urgent need of admiration aka tears in his eyes) or current Vince Mcmahon (needs to prove everyone he still got it, isnt out of touch and is able to create something BIG while actually being quite succesful, cant get enough admiration for his work, handling with his peers/employees like a pupeteer for his own good)? Am I reaching?

I don't know about that, but I did notice that it felt a lot like The Wrestler in terms of it's plot.

Hey, I get to repost of my old posts!
I just don't like Birdman at all. I was hoping and praying that Grand Budapest Hotel would win Best Picture, but I always knew Birdman was gonna win. It's a movie that simultaneously goes "movies are dead these days!" and "Man, aren't movies so awesome?" in the most obvious, masturbatory way possible. It's a movie where everyone gives grand, sweeping speeches about their lives and what they stand for without even trying to sound like dialogue that actual human beings would speak, it rages against blockbusters, critics, millennials, and anyone that just can't possibly understand the struggle of being a serious actor with serious artistic integrity. It'll be as remembered as well as The Artist was.

All I know is I was excited for Birdman until I learned it had nothing to do with the Hanna-Barbara cartoon.
