So... This is what I am thinking. You have the Daniel Bryan/CM Punk/Samoa Joe/Colt Cabana/AJ Styles/Cesaro indy group that made it in some shape or form. You also have Kevin/Owens/Sami Zayne/Adrian Neville/Finn Balor/whoever else you want to lump in with them. What is the more talented group of rising stars? I think the first group, but the new guys have the higher ceiling and more important people in their corners. I saw Bryan, Cesaro, Owens, Zayn, and Rollins all on the same ROH show live in January 2008. To me they're the same group, or at least there's enough overlap. They were all around when I was into ROH, except for Punk and Joe who were before that. Bryan was already an established main eventer in ROH while the rest of those guys were trying to make a name for themselves on the undercard. True, Bryan stuck around after guys like Punk and Joe signed contracts to WWE and TNA, but I don't think that takes him out of their "generation." Bob Backlund wrestled in WWE and held the WWE Title during the time of Bret Hart and Diesel, but I don't consider him part of their generation.

I think people are confusing the generation thing with people's ages/when they debuted whereas I think the OP is referring to people making a big splash on the indies/TNA so in that context you have Daniels, AJ, Joe, Punk, Aries, Sydal, Dragon, Nigel etc. who made it big in the first half of the decade compared to Neville, Steen, Zayn, Ambrose, Balor, Rollins, Cole etc. who made it big in the second half of the decade. This is exactly the way I meant the post. It is more about when they came to prominence.

I still wanna cheat and say overall the roster of ROH in 2007. I'm playing by my own rules, Sweet'n Sour style baby!

-AJ Styles -Samoa Joe -Christopher Daniels -Nigel McGuiness -Austin Aries -Homicide -Chris Sabin -Alex Shelly -Petey Williams -Roderick Strong -Michael Shane -Super Dragon -Jimmy Jacobs -Sonjay Dutt I would kill to see these guys in WWE. Hell have NXT be THE show of the best indy talent and up and coming guys and veterans like Rhyno, The Brian Kendrick, Too Cool, Funaki, etc

Weren't Steen and Generico on a Do or Die in 2004?
Just because it took them longer to main event due to their geography does not mean they aren't the same generation. Same applies to Balor. Itami was in ROH around Bryan's title run.
Only one I'd concede was a different generation is Neville as he is quite young compared to others.
