As in I mean came nowhere close to happening.
Some off the top of my head.
Sean O'Haire being a big star. Twice actually. First when he came to WWF after WCW then with those "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know" promos.
Shamrock/Severn getting a proper program. I think they had one or two confrontations in the WWF, but never had a real program.
Brakus at least getting one high profile PPV match. Although after the same promos had been airing for a month promoting him and nothing coming of it you started to get the feeling nothing ever would. IIRC Brakus did wrestle on one PPV...a UK exclusive PPV where he lost to Jeff Jarrett in a throwaway match.

Vader with the WWF title, even if just for a few months. I mean, come on.
Owen Hart getting a main-event run against HBK as the "Blackheart," post-Montreal.
More recently, I figured for sure that Cena, by virtue of never giving up, would have beaten Lesnar in a rematch by now.

*Undertaker beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Not for the Streak, but the idea that an element of Lesnar's interaction with Undertaker, that wasn't discussed, was how Brock always had Undertaker's number, and this would be the site where Undertaker finally got one against Lesnar. *ECW having any involvement in Bragging Rights 2009, even as a throwaway. Granted, the ECW Championship (Christian vs. Paul Burchill) was the dark match, but... it was the dark match. *And, this isn't being that original, but I thought they'd have Cena win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Bryan/Sheamus 3 or 4 (depending on how technical you are).
It's almost at the point where I'm willing it just so it falls off as a topic of conversation.

If you would have asked me in 2012 I would have said for certain that Punk would one day main event a Wrestlemania.

HBK and Bret burying the hatchet.
Edit: Oops, read the title wrong.
I thought for sure that Wade Barrett would be huge.

A returning Christian would aid Edge in the Jeff Hardy feud in 2009

Owen Hart getting a main-event run against HBK as the "Blackheart," post-Montreal. He tried to be a tough guy.

I felt sure in 1996 that Faarooq would end up winning the Intercontinental Championship within the next couple of years.
I felt sure that The Rockers would eventually be the WWE Tag Team Champions (for real).
I felt sure that Chris Jericho would win the Royal Rumble that Sheamus ended up winning. Jericho still got the more prestigous title shot and spot on the Mania card, so nothing would have really changed had Jericho won instead of Sheamus. You'd just have to give Sheamus his title shot via storyline instead of from winning the Rumble.

Back in November, I thought Dolph Ziggler would win the Rumble.

William Regal (then Barrett) being the first British WWE Champion. Seemed a lock.
Kane staying unmasked. He was unmasked longer than masked, I thought there was no point anymore in putting it back on.
DDP returning for a short program with Randy Orton. I thought this was bound to happen eventually.
But biggest one for me- Paul Burchill blowing the British Bulldog out of the water as the next British megastar. I saw him way back in 2002 and thought the guy was the absolute future of the business. Sadly didn't pan out. FWA had a phenomenal crop of talents in 02-04 who just never amounted to much. Hade Vansen's another one who I thought would be big in WWE and had 1 promo before being cut.

Undertaker vs Cena at WM with the streak still in tact.
Orton vs Cena having their first match against each other at WM.
Members of two different teams grabbing a belt each during a TLC and becoming tag champions.
Gregory Helms uttering the line "Citizen Kane" (I don't think it happened).
An election for the GM position.

Taker being 22-0
Typical that the one year I felt the Streak was not in danger was the one year it finally got broken.

Zack Ryder being a permanent upper midcarder.
Mr. Kennedy being a WWE champion.
The name Daniel Bryan wouldn't get over and people would chant for Bryan Danielson.
