The wwe title hasn't been defended on free tv since when?
I was thinking to myself that I love this and believe it adds prestige to the championship but then I got to thinking...
Dean Ambrose held the U.S. title for close to year and hardly ever defended it on free tv but it didn't add any value.
Thoughts?

I guess it depends on if Rollins chooses WrestleMania or the RAW after to cash in... but it's gonna happen baby.

The last TV WWE Championship match was apparently Punk v Ryback in early 2013, the re-scheduled TLC match.

This is where a portion of the forum will say 'but I thought we all wanted less title defenses? ' To just pre-empty that - we wanted less title defenses, maybe; we might even have wanted the champion on TV less. But this is was a champion who was completely absent for the majority of his reign and didn't defend the title for what, three or four months, and was barely even mentioned in that time either. I love Brock and I have enjoyed much of this reign but Christ help me if I'd been watching Raw every week.

I think it's something that should happen every once in awhile. Not too often, but I do like the thing they were doing for a few years where it'd be defended on the first Raw of the year.

Can you imagine how cool it would be if in the build between Fastlane and Wrestlemania if one week Roman Reigns fought, let's say, Big Show. And had a grueling "back and forth" (i know i know it's Reigns) and Roman managed to pull out a victory. Then the next week Heyman comes out with Brock and says the champ wants to send a message to Reigns and puts his WWE Title on the line against the Big Show. And DESTROYS HIM. This follows a pattern every other week with Brock challenging the people Roman has beaten the week before and annihilates them. Eventually leading to a face off between the two when Roman gets tired of being shown up.
yes, it would require Brock to be paid more to appear more. and actually do stuff. but it'd be a neat way to do something that you could only really do realistically with Lesnar and have it feel organic/legit as the cocky "tweener" champ and can destroy anyone whenever he wants.

I think there's room for a televised defense every now and then, but it did get a little absurd at times in the past.

He barely defended the title at all It sort of makes a joke of all the times Heyman calls him a defending champion.

TV defenses are a fine idea so long as they're not overdone and that they take a week or 2 to build towards said defense

He said something that in the time he was out Brock Lesnar only defended the title one more time than he did kinda proves how little the title has mattered in that time. and when Hogan was champ if he didn't wrestle he was always a presence on the show in some capacity.

I thought this thread was gonna be about logical, well-structured storylines when I read the title.

Raw isn't free TV. It's cable. You get a bill for the service. Free TV would be SNME on NBC or something similar.
