Cyborg is the only real threat. Carano is an option for a name value fight but Rousey likely wins that easily enough. Cyborg's brutal striking is the major threat to Rousey but UFC do not seem remotely interested in signing her.

That and if I recall, she's significantly out of Rousey's weight class. If she dropped down in weight, it could happen, but she could also potentially lose power in the process, and it'd also mean Ronda would be fighting at a size she's used to and Cyborg would be fighting on her terms, pretty much.

I've no idea but I suspect it would make money. Could even do a catchweight fight with no belt on the line. We're getting to that point with Rousey that's beat the entire division, some more than once. That way if Rousey loses, she's still champ but some repeat fights can happen with the chance "her confidence is shaken". She needs to be used like a pro wrestler by UFC now, she's so much better than everyone that you need angles and stories to give the others a hope.

There's no impetus on Ronda to make some sort of catch-all weight so she can fight Cyborg. She's the champion, if Cyborg wants the fight, cut the weight.

I don't think she will. I think she stays in UFC 1-2 more years tops, then goes to solely do movies and such. I think so too. I wouldn't be surprised with a WWE match or two. I wonder what the change in pay would be compared to the actual work.

I'll be shocked the day she fights in more than one round. It happened against Miesha. That being said, she might not stick around long enough to lose.

I don't think it's ever gonna happen because there's no way in hell Cyborg can drop down to bantamweight, she walks around 170, she's bigger than me! Like the diet guru Mike Dolce, who worked with Cyborg, he claimed that she can't be disciplined enough to drop that weight.
Although if it's a catchweight Cyborg beats the f*** out of her.

She will lose once the following things happen:
1) A fighter she is facing is trained to stop her one major move 2) Said fighter isn't an idiot when it comes to strategy (see the last fight) 3) Women's MMA gets actual well rounded fighters
The biggest issue with the women's division in the UFC is that the fighters are not well rounded in anyway. Rousey is the only one. I was actually impressed by Jedrezejczyk on the last PPV. She is a legit striker who had great take down defense. Esparza was the champion and had absolutely no ability when she was standing. She had no defense and no offense.

Not going to happen. Hopefully she retires with the belt and the division goes back to developmental until they have an average of post UFC 5 skillset.

I would have loved a Rousey-Carano fight, but that ship has unfortunately sailed.

This is why the women's fights right now are so fun to watch. It's like the first UFC shows, where things weren't really structured and you had all these mismatches and unorthodox fights because the state of the game hadn't evolved to the point where everyone basically knew they had to have more/less this one specific set of skills.

My friends and I had this exact conversation during the last PPV. It did remind us of the early days.

I'd like it. I have nothing against the woman, I just hate it when the UFC hype machine deems someone ZOMG UNSTOPPABLE1!1!!!P4PCHAMPGOATBLARGH!!!1! It made me hate Machida. It made me hate Anderson. It made me hate Jon Jones. After a monster gets their bubble burst, I warm right up to them. It was never them I hated, just the marketing and apparent dopey parrot nature of a lot of MMA fans. You can't blame "the UFC hype machine" for her being deemed that. Winning every single fight she's in against every challenger in her weight class would be at fault there. Dana White isn't Eric Bischoff booking Bill Goldberg's streak... He's just taking advantage of it. If you refuse to warm up to her til she "gets her bubble burst", that's on you I suppose. It seems kinda douchey, but hey, not my business. I'm sure I'm a hell of a lot more douchey in other ways.
