And perhaps wrestling in general?
As in, out of nowhere the good guy's music plays and he cleans house to the roar of the crowd.
I sometimes wonder why I still watch wrestling, but those occasions on RAW when Sting has shown up recently and helped take down the authority reminded me why I love it.
Sure thanks to the internet we knew Sting would probably be there last night, but it was still an epic moment. Or all of those moments when the glass would shatter and the rattlesnake would run out and kick ass. I fondly recall Kane kicking everyones ass in 2000 after he'd been gone for a while. Or when Undertaker debuted as the American Bad Ass.
Don't get me wrong, matches and segments are great too. But those returns are often the greatest moments as the roar of the crowd can be crazy.

Oh yeah. I sometimes put myself through a show I know I'm not enjoying because I'm like "WHAT IF I MISS A SURPRISE RETURN"

I definitely miss the big jumps from company to company during the Monday Night War.

Sure thanks to the internet we knew Sting would probably be there last night, but it was still an epic moment. Which is exactly why I don't read the internet before a show. I don't read spoilers or even theories of 'leaked' newz. I read fan theories on here and think about what might or might not happen. But I don't read potential spoilers because if they're true there's not as much joy in it and if they're false it's a letdown. Surprises and returns are among the sweetest cherries this industry offers. But the sweetest of all is undoubtedly the build to when your guy finally wins the title or gets his hands on the heel. Cena's first win, Batista's first win, Bryan at Mania XXX, Eddie at NWO04... these are the moments that I live for as a fan. They don't need to be surprises. But they do need to be awesome.

Spoilers are a funny thing.
Read any IMDB board of any upcoming popular movie and you will have people asking questions to people who claim to have seen it/read the script etc and working out from set pictures and reports an exact approximation of what is going to happen. Like they are so excited to see it that they have to know exactly what is going to happen in the film before they see it. Shame really.
This Rumble, I couldn't watch until the Monday, but I succesfuly stayed off of all forums and social media and news so I could watch it the next day, spoiler free. It was not a great show but I enjoyed seeing it without knowing what was going to happen.

I genuinely don't understand people who read spoilers of wrestling and then watch the show. What is the f***ing point?

I genuinely don't understand people who read spoilers of wrestling and then watch the show. What is the f***ing point? There are times it's worth doing. If a show just doesn't seem like it'll be any good, it doesn't hurt to look at spoilers, maybe see something that catches your eye, then watch for that. I know I keep meaning to watch the episodes of NXT with Rhyno and Kendrick on them entirely because I read about them in the spoilers.

I agree. I remember marking so hard I couldn't sit when The Rock came back in 2011 and buried the shit out of Cena on the mic. Granted, he then delivered nothing but garbage after that night, but still.

I mainly watch WWE to try to find some glimmer of hope or reason to invest myself in the current product. When that doesn't happen, I walk away satisfied that I saw a couple decent matches and gained awareness of what's going on. My expectations are astronomically low, which means that I'm pretty lukewarm to everything I'm watching, but with the positive side being that I don't go into a rage and start making threats after every show.

My childhood was basically JR's voice yelling during an Austin return
BAH GAWD ITS AUSTIN! ITS AUSTIN! STONE COLD! STONE COLD! THE RATTLESNAKE.. IS HERE!
King: I THOUGHT HE WAS IN JAIL!
