For those who don't know (which I'm going to assume is 99% of fan) is that two of the judges on the shitty New Zealand rip off of the X factor were fired because one of them Natalia Kills (who is married to the other judge Willy Moon) insulted a contestant who she accused of copying her husband's hairstyle and dress sense.....
I don't watch stuff like the X factor but it did make me wonder why did people get outraged all off a sudden. These types of shows (both the international and local versions)have been on NZ television for years, and not to mention isn't part of the appeal such shows has been seeing some no hoper get ridiculed the living shit out of by the arsehole judge.
Are people being hypocrites because now that people (including my missus and several of my mates) screaming bullying even though they have found shit like this entertaining for past 15 years?

The whole "nasty judge" thing is passe now. It needs to die a death. Craig on Strictly is in that vein but it's done in a pantomime villian way that fits the programme, and the other three judges always ridicule him. As for X Factor, I don't know who this bitch or her husband are, but they deserved to get fired. The contestant should have openly said that he isn't likely to copy a non-entity he's never even heard of.

That wasn't "nasty judge" that was them bullying someone over something ridiculous and they made the show a mockery worldwide. He wore a suit, Willy Moon did not invent suits. He looked more like Michael Buble than him, hell he even SUNG Buble!

Moon has one really good, punchy album with an interesting style. Shame he wasn't picked up by more people.

Yes, because you know, your husband is probably the only person in the history of ever to wear a suit.

As a X Factor fanatic, a fan of Natalia Kills music, and a victim of bullying, I can speak a little bit on this
What she did went beyond nasty judge trope. NJ does pick on the contestants but at the end of it respect the musician. Best examples include Gary Barlow with Jonny Robinson, Rylan Clark or Sam Callihan, Simon Cowell with Jedward, or in the US version LA Reid with Fifth Harmony. There were snide comments but nothing that were truly MEAN. What she did was basically attack him on stage about being a copycat amongst other things. It was uncalled for and I'm glad she got what she deserved

I feel that one difference here is that the criticism is so unnecessary and irrelevant. The manner in which they delivered those lines, too, felt more like "bullying", as opposed to the usual "I'm just being brutally honest" lines we normally see from the typical nasty talent show judges.

Genuinely never heard of Natalia Kills before this whole fiasco, probably will forget about her by the time the year is finished. So yeah, good luck in obscurity.

My thoughts?
Stupid people acting stupid on a stupid reality show designed to trick people into thinking you can actually "spot a future star" based on a 45 second interaction.
For a board that largely pans WWE for trying to manufacture stars, it is interesting that many would even think for a second these kind of shows have any legitmacy.
If you want to be famous for going on this kind of show, more power to you, but when you go on a show known for basically bullying people who they feel are "delusional" (something highly amusing considering I view everyone who participates this show and thinks it matters, judges included, as HIGHLY delusional) then that is the risk you take.
But I don't really watch these shows, I was always under the impression that people are routinely destroyed in the public eye and that was the major appeal of the early stages of the, and I use this term as losely as possible, competition.

I have no opinion, but I wonder if in these days of super PC, careful not to offend anyone so ther isn't a twitter outcry, would a Simon Cowell even make it in show biz?

The only way I can see that this is different from what normally goes on, not that I usually watch this type of stuff, is that they were attacking his look rather than his singing. I know image is a big part of music, but surely she should have at least mentioned his performance before going into her weird ' you're wearing a suit and have similar hair, therefore you're copying my husband' spiel?

Should have said "bitch, if I was your husband, I'd file for divorce"

No reality show should ever cause genuine controversy. They just aren't worth getting worked up over and every part of them is so freaking artificial that acting like they have any connection to reality aside from the name (which surely must be used ironically by this point?) is a waste of everyone's time.
If there should be something about reality shows to get offended over, it should only be the contempt for their audience to try and pass this shit off as spontaneous when everything is so obviously planned from the start. But if you honestly get pissed that one of these shows did something undignified well, you're a bit silly for expecting dignity from a genre whose business model can be summed up as nobodies trading their integrity in exchange for five minutes of fame in the first place.

I think what compounds the whole thing is that her husband isn't relevant enough to copy. That's what makes this so baffling.
Also I think there's a big difference between what Simon Cowell does with his "nasty judging" and what these two did. I think they crossed a line from "brutally honest and also somewhat entertaining to the audience" to "emasculating, mean-spirited bullying."

Why didn't she complain about the host because he looks exactly like the other guy on stage. Which is to say he looks exactly like her husband. Damn all these white people look alike.

She told the guy he made her sick. Men dressing in suits was a thing before her husband was even born, so how could he be copying him??
