I don't know about you guys, but two of my all time favorite shows from this century, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teen Titans. Granted I know some people that only like ona and not the other, most notably Doug Walker, but anyway they both did a great job in my opinion blending comedy and drama in the series, and keep it perfectly balence. Though it might be personnel, I love action and comedy, and when done right it is great if you can mix them. BTW I also loved both comic book adaption, The Lost Adventures comics and the current Dark Horse Avatar comics, and the Teen Titans Go comic series (ironicly a comic book adaption of a series that is an adaption of the comics)
They had great characters, two of my favorite villains are Slade aka Deathstroke and Azula, hello. Also characters that don't really fit into a hero and villian catagory, Zuko and Terra.
Anyway after both shows ended, there were adapted into other media. The first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender was adapted into a movie by M. Night Shamalayan called The Last Airbender, and the Teen Titans cartoon was remade in a comedy cartoon titled Teen Titans Go (not to be confused with the awesome comic book series, that is the part that really irritates me the most, why associate the series with this)
Both are not that well receieved by the fan base, but both adaption are very different, one is a live action movie, the other is a animated series, but both did ignore the great balence of comedy and dramatic action, but both in opposite ways. The Last Airbender took out all the comedy and did it all serious, while Teen Titans Go made it all comedy.
So which is worse, being too serious, or be too comedic?

The Last Airbender is a piece of shit movie that fails on every front when it comes to adapting Avatar.
Teen Titans Go! still has its moments. Is it as good as the first cartoon? Hell nah. But it is still far better than TLA.

At least Teen Titans Go has had the desidentcy of not ruining one of my favorite villains Slade, at least not yet.

I consider The Last Airbender to be the worst ever adaptation of an already existing property.
I haven't watched Teen Titans Go but if they managed to pronounce the characters' names correctly then it's already better than Last Airbender.

TLA. I knew from the start that GO! was gonna be shit, but I actually had hopes for Last Airbender.

Shouldn't even be close
TTG is just harmless fun
Last Airbender is so bad Nostalgia Critic actually did a proper funny and insightful review. Think about that.

I can't say, since I haven't seen either, but how in the hell did M. Night get attached to TLA in the first place?

The Last Airbender no question.
TTG is not as good as the action show, but it can be funny at times and at worst it's harmless fluff.
TLA fails on just about every count. including pronunciation of the characters names.

TTG is silly and stupid and not very funny, but overall it's mostly harmless. The backlash comes from the fact that the original series was completely different, an they took the same character designs and voices and did something completely different, rather than continuing what was good before.
The Last Airbender was a more faithful adaptation in terms of story, but it completely altered the effectiveness that they told it. It made bending, the main draw of the show, completely uninspired. There was none of the light-heartedness from the show, which was necessary to balance out the seriousness of the story and it led to Sokka being completely morose and unforgettable. No one sounded like they cared at all what was going on. The original show was fun, and Shyamalan completely stripped everything fun from it.
The Last Airbender was worse to me because, unlike Go, it's not trying to be the same thing. Go is basically a parody of the original, it's not trying to tell you that it's just as good and unique and interesting. The Last Airbender is.

I've never understood the hate TTG gets. At worst it's just some harmless 9 minute fluff. I mean it's not like the original series was some untouchable Batman: TAS masterpiece either, so I don't know why people seem to think the creators of TTG have violated some cardinal sin of animation.

I wanna know. What the hell do people have against Teen Titans Go? It's not like the original Teen Titans series was BTAS DARK AND SERIOUS AND INTENSE all the time, either.

TTG had a DuckTales reference:
I can't hate them because of that.

It's not like the original Teen Titans series was BTAS DARK AND SERIOUS AND INTENSE all the time, either. I think there's two things at play. First it's sort of like having a favorite show that ended on a cliff hanger. They brought the cast back years later, but instead of continuing the story, or even doing a special just to try to wrap things up, they made a song and dance variety show and never went back to the original It may be a good variety show, but it's also disappointing that they had the opportunity to go back to what was great before and didn't. I think the second thing has to do with Cartoon Network's treatment of action shows in general, in that they only seem to want them in the short run. TTG came after they canceled Green Lantern and Young Justice, both of which were good shows and both of which ended on cliffhangars teasing bigger and better things. TTG is a fairly harmless show, but given what it replaced and how they treated the shows they axed, I think there's some residual backlash.

Teen Titans Go is funny. Last Airbender was disgustingly bad on every level.

TTG is a fairly harmless show, but given what it replaced and how they treated the shows they axed, I think there's some residual backlash. That's not entirely true. Yes, Cartoon Network do tend to have a terrible track record of running action shows recently. But Teen Titans Go! started as shorts that ran when the DC block on Cartoon Network started. They just kinda made it it's own thing after they cancelled the block (maybe it was before the block was fully cancelled I forget, but they were around well before they canceled Green Lantern and Young Justice.) Also this is more to do with your first point that I edited out of the quote but your scenario doesn't really work since Teen Titans action show didn't end on a cliff hanger from what I remember and honestly the last season of it wasn't particularly good. (Technically it ended with the Trouble in Tokyo movie but shutup)
