Sounds like an excuse because like you said, a ladder match is riskier than a one on one. And as for Angle, he went on to have years of quality matches in TNA. I know he's in rough shape now but that's gonna happen to any wrestler his age whose as active as he is.

That's what I've been saying!
Give him a multiman match where he can do his precious spots but not risk himself, and in the process still be in the public eye because, let's face it, Daniel Bryan needs some kind of spotlight

Excuse or not there has to be some concern that he is coming off such of serious injury and is still getting dropped on his head regularly. Putting him in a ladder match is a whole other issue though.

We pretty much already knew this. Hell, it actually would have been kind of insane to have him win the Rumble, considering they only had him cleared to be in it almost immediately before the match. I am happy to see his body holding up, but I do hope he stops taking some of these risks.

He doesn't have to work the entire match though. If he was going one on one with Brock, he'd have to keep going the entire time. If he's in there with so many others, he can easily take it a bit easier. I often wondered if this is the reason why he wasn't pushed to the title once again once he got back. It's possible that WWE is going with a wait and see with him.

They could have held off on his return until this coming Monday and nothing of value would have been lost.
He'd have been given a few more months to recover, and it may have helped Reigns too.

If they're that concerned, then bringing him back as early as the Rumble becomes an even more baffling decision.
I realize problems like that may never fully go away, but if your concern is that the rehab is experimental, then give the freaking rehab more time before you put him back on the road full time. Common damn sense.

At least it's a ladder match with a lot of competitors. So the heavy bumping can be done by Dolph and Ambrose, while Bryan is still protected.

I don't think there's anything more to this "de push" than they REALLY wanted to do Lesnar vs Reigns.

It's an excuse to not put Bryan in the title picture, that's all it is. He's already doing a ladder match working with stiff competitors. No difference. Brock's been called a "teddybear" in the ring by Austin. He's fine.
Another thing, I'm sick of the WWE assuming that main eventers all of a sudden have more dangerous matches than midcarders these days. Sure, they can do more gimmick matches but midcarders do that as well. If Bryan didn't have a title he'd be in that "above IC title/below main event" level and these guys do Elimination Chamber matches and everything else in the book. They're booking him on tv every single week, he's doing spots, so stupid.
This company.

I guess I kinda get it, but I think there was a way where they could have met in the middle. Like why not have him, sting, and Orton take on HHH, Rollins ,and Sheamus in a 6 man elimination match with authority power on the line? Still doesn't explain the idiotic rumble elimination though

So, you're concerned about his health, yet you put him in a dangerous ladder match. Hey, being put into ladder matches with a history of severe neck problems never did Edge any harm, he's still going strong... Oh wait.

So concerned they had him in a lengthy and stiff match with Roman and in a tag gauntlet match on SmackDown that went about 40+ mins.
I don't buy this.

If he gets injured in the ladder match or in any RAW or house show match, they don't have to scrap their long-term plans. If he got injured as the champion post-Mania for the 2nd straight year, that'd be bad for him and bad for the WWE. It's not the end of the world for him to get some time under his belt before he's a central figure again. If he can stay healthy, he'll have championship matches in the future.
