Saw the film today ... and well by the end was just disappointed. It was all going so well, superman was back, Lex Luthor was far more dark and evil, his plan was genius. we had a big plane action sequence, The Lois Supes relationship was back on .. Lex had the advantage with his kryptonite shard .. and then it all collapsed like a house of cards! Where was the payoff? the big end scene? Lex getting his comeuppance? Where? So Lex gets left on an island & Superman doesn't have a final show down with him! Plus we don't get a final heroic shot of superman is back, to the people of earth or even a daily planet headline ... no we just get him flying off into the clouds. Poor ending ... but hey that's just my thoughts. (Hey look Marsden can act, yet they killed him in x-men 3 as Cyclops, great )

i liked it, but i saw it at a drive in with "Click" and was really impressed with Click. I'm not wild about there being a lil Superman-that's like those Xmas stories where Santa retires and passes the gimmick on to a younger guy, at least thats where this seems to be headed if they make a bunch more of these films

Although I LOATHE both Superman and Lex Luthor and promised myself I would not see this film, I did, and I liked it.
Agreed on no showdown and Superman jr. bringing it down though.

...So Lex gets left on an island & Superman doesn't have a final show down with him!... Supes got all "fricked up" from lifting the Kryptonite laced bedrock, kinda hard to have a showdown after that. But whatever, glad you liked at least SOME of the flick.

But he got better! ... but then just forgets about Lex ... Lex could have done anything in the meantime, how would Superman know? ... We don't even get a shot of Superman flying over the small island, with a slight smile at Lex's fate.
ridiculous.

Something that annoyed me was that when Kent found out Luthor got out of prison early Jimmy says Superman must be pissed, so pissed he doesn't even attempt to see him till the third act.
The dad's name shouldve been Barry Allen or Wally West and then in the sequal have him move to Keystone City and then it'd be who is the real daddy?

something else that got me-here was Lex Luthor, criminal mastermind, and he gets out of going to prison, on a technicality??

Since we're all complaining, my only complaint was not enough action for my liking
Quite funny how he seems to have turned into a peeping tom. But apart from not enough action, I found the flick enjoyable
Also, I was hoping for at least one Zod reference
My pal who I went to see it with was much more harsh though.
I give it 4 Zod's out of 5 though.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. But a few criticisms:
Kevin Spacey. Good as Lex Luthor, but he just seemed to be trying a bit too hard. Gene Hackman is the world's greatest living actor and will always be Lex Luthor in my eyes, so I might be biased. The film was about 15 minutes too long. While I can't really think of what scenes could have gone, it just seemed a bit too long.

i loved it...the irony and the performance by Kevin Spacey had me laughin..also i noticed that they used a religious symbolism in that movie...i.e. Superman falling at the end with his body in the same position as a certain religious symbol's when he was cruicified

I loved it.....one of my favorite movies eve.r......but I saw it on IMax, twice....have yet to see it in the theater......but watching the movie it was made with so much love for the character, and I felt like I was 6 years old watching my hero fly around and save the day.....but the IMax experience was incredible.
I especially like the demo they do in the beginning of the movie for all of the speakers.....when they get to the bass you hear "......and the bass is.......HEERRRRRREEEEEE" as the theater shakes with the rumbling of the word "here". So awesome.

What I can't get a hold on is the budget. If this thing was made for $300 million, I'd like to know where all that money went. There wasn't anything in the movie that looked to special, at all. Sure, it looked somewhat decent, but nowhere where it should have cost even half that.
But as far as I think of the actual movie, it was rubbish. As much as I despise Batman Begins, that thing blew this one out of the water. If it didn't have a guy in tights with an 'S' on his chest to show he's Superman and powers, if he was just wearing like some pants and a tanktop and was extremely lucky, you'd think it was just answer summer blockbuster action flick that dragged on for far to long. That movie was the stinkiest turd I've ever seen since that one time I visited old McDonald's farm and noticed his cow.

It is planed as a trilogy of movies, and Lex luthor will be in all three movies suposedly. So where do they go from here
Lex Luthor finds one last crystal while looking through the helicopter one last time. He throws it in the water and instead of a land mass a Kryptonian Sentinet computer named Brainiac emerges from the water.
Lex luthor somehow gets off the island and in order to get at Superman somehow brings back general zod(I wish they would do something more original than this but Brian singer is suposedly in love with the idea of bringing back Zod with Jude Law playing the role).
Lex Luthor gets off the island somehow makes the bizarro ray hits Superman with it and Superman has to deal with Bizarro.
While on the island Luthor gets a vist fron 5th demisional imp Mr. Myxalplic(sp?). It turns out the imp wants to "play" with Superman. He gets Luthor off the island and Superman is plagued by the "games" of the imp.
I prefer Luthor teaming up with any Superman villian not seen on film yet, I want something original.

I saw the movie a couple of weeks ago, and heres my take. I liked Spacey as Luther. He seemed to have a really good grasp of what Hackman did for the role. But this isn't about the other Super Flicks. I liked the characters and the actors/actresses who played them. What I didn't like was the storyline.............at all. Come on.....Luther gets out out of prison on a technicality, Lois has a kid, etc. I expected far more action than what was in this movie. I don't overall care about the details of the Superman/Lois relationships. Way too much sugar in the storyline for my taste.
