They'll make a movie about anything now days. Love the series but I'm scratching my head over this one.

FNAF is like the Paranormal Activity of video games. They're really playing Russian Roulette by milking it the way they have.

Love the games, but the fans are embarrassing. How's this going to work though? The average person wouldn't come back the next night if there was killer animatronics after them.

But an average person isn't a horror movie style character. They're even stupider when it comes to possible death situations.

I doubt this will ever get made.
Movie rights get sold all the time with nothing ever coming from it.
At best I think they'd grab some script they've been sitting on change a few plot elements and say it was always meant to be a Five Nights movie.

Okay, seriously people, what is the deal with this franchise? It's yet another series of highly predictable, obnoxious jump scares with absolutely no atmosphere or any attempt at being actually scary or at least creepy. It's the most uninspired, insipid, hackneyed bullshit. It's the lowest-common denominator of "horror".
Were the people who enjoy this brand of non-horror in an accident that shut off the part of their brain responsible for pattern recognition? Because you'd think by the hundredth time they see it they wouldn't be falling for this shit any more. Or do they seriously believe/convince themselves that just because PewDiePie, Markiplier and whoever else gave blatantly forced reaction to it makes it actually scary?
The only rational explanation I can find for the success of this kind of crap (and nut just in video games either because I can't believe Paranormal Activity became a freaking franchise) is that it's horror for people who don't actually like horror but for some reason want to watch/play horror movies and games.
I mean seriously, it's just extended screamer videos? When did we decide that not only was it not annoying any more but it actually constituted "psychological horror"? I'm sorry but if your reaction to a "scare" is to laugh it off and immediately forget it, it's neither psychological nor horror.

The story of a security guard being increasingly tormented by the animatronics at a Chuck E. Cheese-like restaurant over the course of five nights, has potential to be good... But... It cannot just be Jump Scares City, Bitch. This is one time where legit just taking the game and putting it on screen would be the worst decision. Staring at cameras and waiting for the jump? Might as well make another Paranormal Activity.

Some people like it for the lore of the universe in the game more than the actual gameplay itself. What lore? Avenue Q rejects screaming their guts out? I haven't played any of the games because I agree with your opinion that they're just a sequence of repeated jump scares and I don't see any appeal from a gameplay or horror standpoint (you nailed it by calling it lowest common denominator horror). Saying that, the games do actually have a fair bit of backstory. Now I don't know it very well but the little I've gleaned is that there was an incident in one of the restaurants that turns out to be 5 children were murdered. Initially you're led to beleive that the animatronics came alive and killed them but it actually turns out that the kids were killed by a security guard wearing one of the costumes. Now the spirits of the children are possessing the animatronics to defend themselves against who they believe to be the security guard,w hich explains why they keep coming after the night watchman. There's waaaaaay more stuff leading up to that and at the sides, and I've probably told it wrong but I think that's the gist of it.

The history of the place, where five children went missing, never found...someone getting their frontal lobe bitten off...just to name a few things I saw from Markiplier's playthroughs.

This kind of thing isn't for everyone (which should go without saying ... but I'm saying it) and I totally get that, but acting like this series doesn't have pretty strong and clear lore behind it is just incorrect. I watched a few different LPers play it because I'm a goof and get a kick out of it, but I was much more legitimately interested in some of the Game Theory vids and some of the other backstory vids people did on it. Wouldn't have guessed it the first time I watched Markiplier play it, but it's actually super interesting from a story perspective. Not reinventing the wheel or anything, but I enjoy it.
