I'm more familiar with current Brock Lesnar, but I liked the first run of Mr Laser as well. The guy was a great wrestler, even at a young age, and a legit freak athlete, with enough charisma and skills, plus the look to be a top guy. Lesnar rolls in, with Heyman in tow, destroy everything and within his first year: Wins King of the ring, beats Hogan, beats Flair, was scheduled to go over Austin, beats Rock and wins the world title at Summerslam, beats Undertaker, win the Royal Rumble and wins the title at Wrestlemania. In one year! Kayfabe, one of the best ever, and that incarnation of Lesnar wasn't even the invincible monster we have now. My question is, how did people feel about this 'super push'? Fans, fans on the internet, fellow wrestlers etc. The guy got handed everything, but at the same time he was (and is) great and backed it all up. The argument against giving him the world was that he left just two years later (so they had Randy break his 'worlds youngest champion' statistic). However, Brock leaving and finding success elsewhere and then returning has only added more prestige and legitamacy to his character in retrospect.

I loved it. But I didn't understand then, and still don't, why they turned him heel in summer 2003. Was it because they wanted Kurt to be the top face? Was it preparation for facing Goldberg? He was super over and it always seemed a bit of a waste to me to turn him heel.

Nobody could deny how impressive he was. Seriously, at a time when there were still a lot of good credible talents on the roster, Lesnar came in and from powerbombing the hell out of Spike Dudley and taking those chair shots from The Hardyz, he instantly belonged.
I loved it. I remember being bored a bit by his Smackdown Heel run near the tail end but he was still working with incredible talents in an in-ring capacity.

The heel turn annoyed me as a kid because I f***ing loved Lesnar. He is still a personal favourite.

I grew up with him and f***ing loved him. The heel turn sucked as a kayfaybe kid but you had to love his ability. Lesnar proved he belonged quickly and I think that's why he made it...until he quit.
Sometimes I still wonder how different WWE would be if he'd stuck around.

I enjoyed it, I remember being in shock when he beat Hogan on Smackdown. I was just upset when they had to have him turn face and break up him and Heyman, I'm just glad now that we eventually got to see them together again and even better.

I preferred that run to his current run. At least WWE valued him as an actual pro wrestler then. Now they only think of him an MMA Guy/Celebrity.

I've loved everything about Lesnar from day one. And I'm not just saying that because it's the cool thing to do, I truly mean it. When he debuted, you looked at the guy and thought he was just going to be one of the big hosses that they were always crazy about hiring... but then he wrestles with a style on par with Kurt Angle. I wasn't crazy about his feud with Eddie where they gave him a lot of mic time, but his matches were always top-notch. I believe that Brock deserved every push he has gotten and continues to do so. If anyone were to question giving him the title so early, I would respond with: how could you NOT? Why would you waste such a golden goose?
I also wholeheartedly agree that him leaving and coming back only adds to his legitimacy and prestige. Brock is a truly rare athlete/performer. I'm not sure if we will ever see the likes of him again, so that's why I'm enjoying him while I can.

It was weird for me. I was half watching as Austin Rock were fading out of the picture. Then this big blonde guy who looked like a giant baby, and very much like an older version of a kid I went to school with, was destryoing Hogan et al.

He looked like other "roided up" hosses such as Batista, Warrior, Luger etc but Lesnar could move, could jump, could fly around the ring athletically and actually wrestle.

I thought it was insane to see Lesnar get all of these accolades, I mean I was a teenager but at the same time he looked like a monster and his wrestling legitimized him. You put Heyman as his mouthpiece and you have an amazing guy. You can't beat that. He backed up everything.

Brock is just awesome.
He's one of those guys who is and always has been a wrestler who, when his music hits you immediately start paying attention. He's got great presence, charisma, is a legit badass and an excellent wrestler.

Cena was on his way to the main event regardless. He was already one of the most over guys in the company and moved a lot of merch. The idea to me looked like they were going to set up Cena and Brock as constant rivals. (Cena turned face against had his first WWE title shot and named his finishing move against Brock after all)

After Foley, he has established himself as my second favourite of all time, and he really made the push worth it just on talent alone in those days.

I loved it and the people loved it.
Only major complaint about him I remember from 2002 was people hated his tights as, given his size and his booking, people thought Vince finally had his own Goldberg and that their looks were too similar. This was also at a time when people believed there was no way Goldberg ever, ever would sign with WWF/E

You could tell right from the get-go that you were watching an absolutely elite athlete not just in wrestling, but on the planet.

I remember not feeling Brock's rapid push to the WWE title, feeling it was a way too soon for him to be getting the title at Summerslam. Hell in a Cell against Undertaker sold me on Brock, though.
