God I hate "lists" I never read any of them out of principle. And I cannot wait until they die-they're running out of ideas now... There are other types of clickbait as well, like that gif going around of Ellen Degeneres crying and the site claiming she's been fired by Covergirl. What are some of the more ridiculous examples you have seen?

I saw one about rappers with severe illnesses. About 90% of them had depression or Bi-polar disorder. Not that interesting or surprising.

So many of those stupid Twitter accounts that seem to get a million followers (and get verified) that are nothing but a bunch of lists with the caption being "You Won't Believe What Happened To Number 4!" or "Number 7 Is My Favourite!" God - they're so stupid yet somehow so popular.
Clickbait is such a desperate approach. Yet it still seems to work in 2015. I don't get it.

Oh, man, I've seen too many. I think the most mean-spirited lists are stuff like "20 Child Stars Who Grew to be Ugly" or "15 Celebrities with Ugly Spouses."
Like, ouch, man. Just ouch.

I hate sports news Twitter accounts that do this:
"Patroits QB in doubt for playoff game. Details: (link)"
You click the link and find out it's the third stringer or something like that.

Mostly ones that are agenda-based in nature--usually sound bites. Watch *insert person/child here* DESTROY *insert cause/agenda/person*.

They told her she couldn't make it as a plumber, what happened next brought everyone to tears. What happened after made everyone cheer.

Trailer leaked for "whatever movie the internet is excited for" dude, theres this bot or whatever on youtube (and is usually the top comment) that says "i heard that [insert movie title here] has been leaked but I can not find it anywhere. or some bullshit like that. Then someone responds to it with a link. So i clicked it and it showed the marvel logo intro (i was looking at an avengers trailer) and then it stopped and asked me to fill out a survey. The thing is I have an add on in Firefox that lets me download any video or image on the page (video DownloadHelper). It turns out they got a 1080 version of that Marvel logo intro (about 30 secs) to trick you into believing it was the real deal. I was very impressed. It took me forever to come to this thread because the title was very click baity and I thought it was a joke.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHO JOINED THE NWO! SPOILERS INSIDE! NEW NUDE PICS OF LITA AND TRISH STRATUS! CLICK HERE! WWF, WCW, and ECW's websites had "Byte This", WCW Live, and some weekly show on ECW's website where Joey Styles interviewed people. Plus the websites of dirt sheets had their own internet radio shows. So wrestling was ahead of the curve with podcasting in a sense. Between this and the above example of websites using either bullshit rumors or empty promises of naked ladies as clickbait shows that in a way pro wrestling invented the current incarnation of the internet.

A lot of the stuff George Takei posts on Facebook or Twitter. I know it's sometime his husband or his team, but, it's clickbait.
