...was the most senseless burial of all time. Nothing Cena, Triple H or Hogan have done at their worsts even comes close.
Discuss.

It was utter bollocks.
Not losing to Taker, but the mere idea that a man married to Kimberly would be interested in Sara.

DDP: "Ohhhh Sara.....*licks photo of Sara*....baby....I want to give it all to you!"
Dude, I saw Nitro, I know your wife is hot. Why the bollocks would you be stalking someone who looks like Spike Dudley?

This whole saga was shit but yeah DDP being infatuated with Sarah when he's married to Kimberly was just annoying.
I can't suspend disbelief but don't take the piss

The whole thing just felt like Undertaker wanted to validate his marriage to Sara, and pitched this angle to Vince.
Undertaker: "My wife is hot, right Vince?" Vince: "Uh..."

DDP wasn't actually interested in Sara.
He was using her to get at The Undertaker so he would "make [DDP] Famous"

DDP wasn't actually interested in Sara. He was using her to get at The Undertaker so he would "make [DDP] Famous" They seemed to play up that at first, but then he kept being infatuated with Sara long after the revelation that he was the stalker, and not once did they play up that DDP was married to a Nitro Girl despite the fact that it was common knowledge.

In fairness wasn't the stalker part of the story basically DDP's way of getting 'Taker's attention so as for Undertaker to make him "famous?"
Not that it makes the angle that much less stupid, complete waste of DDP.

In 2001 I was still fairly marky and even at that I watched King of the Ring 2001 and thought "what was the effing point of that?" Just a relentless beating. And it's worse because he was such a big star, he wasn't some jobber designed to get Taker over. Madness. Triple H at his worst doesn't have anything this bad.

Well, DDP eventually claimed that the stalker angle was just a way of getting Taker's attention, but then he fell in love with Sara anyway.
I mean, technically in WCW canon DDP and Kimberly were divorced at that time, since she left him for Eric Bischoff at the onset of the New Blood angle in April 2000. So even though it's trotted out as the WWF botching the character, it's one of the few times they DIDN'T trample on WCW continuity. What I find far more insulting is that DDP "needed" the Undertaker to make him "famous". Uh, no. Did you hear the pop when DDP unmasked on Raw? The dude WAS famous, and in that era I'd argue he was just as big of a star as the Undertaker, if not bigger. Keep in mind that this was before the whole WrestleMania streak become a huge thing and the Undertaker wasn't the legend he's considered now. DDP was one of the biggest stars of WCW, while this was the era that Taker was putting on crap matches and wasn't as over as Austin, Rock, Foley, Angle or even bloody Triple H.

I can buy DDP wanting some of Sara considering his face, on a good day, looks like it has the skin volume of a thumb stretched over an entire skull.
Some dudes may like Sara's style over the fakeness of Kimberly anyway.

This is my least favourite period for the Undertaker, mainly because he came across as a selfish douche when he wrestled

Yeah for whatever reason the Kimberly aspect never dawned on me at the time, probably because she and DDP were on the outs the last year of WCW anyway and as such it never occurred to me that this made no sense. It does seem a bizarre feud to debut DDP in though. The "Who's the real People's Champ?" storyline with the Rock would have made much more sense.

DDP deserved a medal for going through with that.
All because Big Asshole wasn't in the mood to make anyone look good. 2001 was Taker's worst year.
