UK RAW's suck ass, that's my opinion. And I don't mean typical WWE sucking, I mean a typical middle of the barrel episode TNA level of sucking.
And it's not fair, because the UK crowds are pretty awesome.
So, why aren't UK RAW episodes treated like MSG episodes, where obvious extra effort is put in?

Because USA USA USA, best country on earth, you're all foreign scum. I love how Cena was brutal pandering to us Brits with WrestleMania talk to compensate for shitting on all of earth the past 3 months.

I don't know how this would apply to the writers, but I wonder how much of a factor fatigue plays into it. The wrestlers are doing a show every day for like a week and a half, right?
(It may not sound a lot compared to the old days of "every night and twice on Sundays", but today's roster has different standards to uphold in terms of appearance and publicity work and such)

Maybe UK Raws have more of a house show vibe to them due to having more segments which appeal directly to the UK crowd.
They don't seem to do this as much during the shows in the US.

I usually got no problem with UK Raw's since they are usually decent shows with good wrestling. Simple stories + good wrestling almost always results in a good show.
Last night's show sucked though and it's mainly the stupidity of some of the stories.

Probably because they are taped.

Because every episode without Triple H and Stephanie are filler.
They don't have to be, but that's the way they are written so that's the way they are. McMahon-less RAWs should feel like big events - where the inmates are running the asylum and good guys have a clear advantage for once, Steph and HHH should come back to all sorts of fires to put out, but instead everyone shrugs their shoulders and not much happens.
It's a fault because the main continuity of WWE, the longest running story, is the power struggle of who's in charge. Nothing else moves forward in WWE ever other than that story, everything else, even the WWE title, is just going round in circles.
It doesn't have to be that way, but it is.

I liked that episode.
We had big storyline development for the women, some Kanetinuity, and mic time for mid-carders. It could have been a lot worse.

I used to feel this way too, but then when they had The Undertaker wrestle his first match on Raw in 3 years at the London tapings in 2013 I stopped doubting!

Probably because they are taped. These. WWE doesn't put effort into shows that will be spoiled and draw lower ratings.

I think it's more this than treating it as filler. In addition, they tend to try for more self-contained stuff that they can give some resolution to, to begin and end at least parts of the show for that audience.

Because it's taped and spoilers are out within seconds. It's simply not worth having noteworthy Raws in the UK.
The UK shows are usually enjoyable for what they are.

If Barret and Neville had won it wouldn't have been filler because there would have been a title change, clean loss by Cena, and a credible win for a newcomer. But that can't happen on Raw even in the US.

Bare in mind during the UK tours they run house shows elsewhere the same night as TV so you've got half the roster missing too (if they need someone on both shows they'll have them go on early in the house shows then fly them to TV like with The Undertaker in 2009 or The Shield 2 years ago.) so people pull double duty and they long things out (Paige trash talking the bellas and Fandangos dancing went on awkwardly long last night)
