I was going thru the program guide on my satellite and saw that SyFy is playing a marathon of "Anaconda" and "Lake Placid" movies leading up to tonight's debut of "Lake Placid vs. Anaconda". I am morbidly curious to see how a movie of giant snakes vs. giant crocodiles will turn out. If only they got Betty White, JLo, and Ice Cube to cameo.....
Anybody else gonna tune in to see just how hilariously horrid this will be?

I only remember Lake Placid for Betty White being in it.
/If Betty has better things (or people...don't look at me, she'd make the same joke) to do, hire Cloris Leachman. //She carried another bad horror movie, The Fields.

Has there ever been a SyFy original movie that didn't suck?
Serious question actually, every one I've seen has been terrible.

Sharknado Stonehenge Apocalypse Red: Werewolf Hunter Shark ado was actually good? I thought it was one of those "so bad it's good" things people liked ironically. If it's actually good I want to see it now.

If it's actually good I want to see it now. Honestly I liked it and the sequel. But Red is a good werewolf flick based on Little Red Riding Hood

They already used Cloris in Lake Placid 2...so someone shares your line of thinking.

Has there ever been a SyFy original movie that didn't suck? Serious question actually, every one I've seen has been terrible. Define suck. I've seen more than my fair share of movies that were certainly not very good but enjoyable enough for those 90 minutes. Depends on your mindset when you sit down to watch. To me personally, a movie "not sucking" means I wouldn't feel like I wasted my money if I paid to see it. Of course, which movies would or wouldn't fall into this category are a matter of opinion.

This thread made me aware that this thing was happening...and now I'm going to watch it.
This is on your head, OP.

Has there ever been a SyFy original movie that didn't suck? Serious question actually, every one I've seen has been terrible. Asylum's Hansel And Gretal was a really effective horror flick. Incorrectly called a Mockbuster of Hansel And Gretal: Witch Hunters, it is actually a contemporary retelling of the tale, which works far better than I expected, with the exception that there's a brother and sister named Hansel and Gretal in modern times. There actually was a mockbuster of the witch hunters movie that stars Eric Roberts, but at its best, could best be called inoffensive.

Can't speak for everyone, but I really loved the following: Alien Apocalypse Decoys 1/2 Loch Ness terror (or Beyond Lock Ness) Gargoyle: Wings of Darkness Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis Return of the Living Dead 5: Rave from the Grave House of the Dead 2 Silent warnings

SyFy originals rule. They stink so much in every measurable bit of movie criteria that you can't help but get behind them.
I'm pretty sure it's by design at this point. If you came to them with a good script, they'd probably swat at you with a rolled up newspaper.

actually like BATTLE LOS ANGELES and AGE OF TOMORROW, and obviously SHARKNADO is tons of fun, their problem is they aren't edited down to an hour!

A lot of these were really funny in the early-to-mid 2000s. Boa vs Python, Frankenfish, Pterodactyl, etc. I don't remember which ones are SyFy channel ones or just straight to video, but this genre of shlock can be amusing. It can also be pretty dull, like Megashark vs Giant Octopus.
I dunno, has this genre maybe... jumped the shark? Jumped the shark vs snake gator? At least a SyFy one will probably be a lot more watchable than Asylum movies, Snakes on a Train is maybe the most dull bad movie ever made.
The commercial for this is pretty funny though and it has Robert Englund with an eyepatch, so I will DVR because of this topic!

I rather enjoy that, in Syfy logic, Robert Englund is related to Betty White.

Watching the end of the previous Lake Placid, there is no way Robert Englund's character could be alive for this one
