I wondered this when I was watching Extreme Rules. They banned the curbstomp due to risk of head injuries, so it's clear that Randy Orton is never going to hit the punt again. So why even bother teasing it if we all know he's going to Charlie Brown it?

Because not everyone watching knows that.

The last time I remember him using it was against Big Show at Survivor Series a year and a half ago, but he threatens it every now and again on big PPVs. Kinda like Edge's Conchairto. So I don't think it's banned, it's just an insta-kill special occasion move now.
And HOPEFULLY, that's what happens with the Curb Stomp. Now he just needs a better regular finisher than that weird jobber Overdrive move.

Mainly, since even though he cannot use it often at all, it still is something that contributes to the perception of him as, heel or face, someone with a tendency to go a little far and take people out.
Granted, to a lot of us who are probably more jaded than most fans, it's an empty threat, but it does add to him being seen as an "edgier" sort of wrestler to many than, say, Cena or the like.

Because the 3 other people I watched the show with all thought he was going to hit it.

After what it did to Husky Harris, no wonder it's Banned, we don't need two of those...

It could be a move he always attempts but never hits. Just like how Flair would try a top rope whatever and end up getting thrown down.

It's not totally banned, it's just very rare that he'll actually use it because it's usually used to write people off for a while. After what it did to Husky Harris, no wonder it's Banned, we don't need two of those... Whatever happened to 'ol Husky anyway?

Also, there's a chance they un-ban it, and it's not like they'll announce that beforehand. I think it's okay to tease it.

Help me out here: did WWE announce non-kayfabe that the Curb Stomp is banned? Or the punt? Because if not, hard as it is to believe several million people don't go to wrestling forums and NEWZ sites to keep up with backstage stuff. They just watch the show.
