One of the best debuts in this company's history.
And...you know the rest.

Such a great start.
That immediately turned into a shitstorm with Daniel Bryan's firing.

I love how you can still hear Daniel Bryan choking out Justin Roberts in the video, even though they cut away from it.

One of my all-time favourite Raw moments. I was sick and couldn't sleep so watched it live (I'm in the UK) so it was the middle of the night. The rest of the Raw was terrible and this was so shocking. I'm convinced the quality of the show dipped on purpose so the closing moments would be more effective.
I also love the visual of Cena reaching out for help as 7 men take him down, but there's nobody there to help.

Amazing debut. Made seven newcomers into main eventers at the time. The summerslam result should've been different though.

I remember being so excited when this happened what a moment. I like to feel The Shield and their booking was WWE's apology for how badly they messed up The Nexus angle.

yeah The Shield pretty much erased all the things gone wrong with the Nexus...even though Shield had 2 more talented members than everyone in Nexus (can't count Bryan since he never wrestled as a Nexus member)
the Summerslam 2010 result is the perfect example of retarded booking decisions in current WWE

The key thing that made this so, so good wasn't just that it was unexpected (and it really was unexpected), for me it was that modern WWE was doing THIS - that someone had thought of this, gained support for it, and that they had done it. It was so different from everything else they were doing, and it felt like such a game-changer because of it. This was a sign that the "safe" programming we had been stuck in was being shaken-up...
...and then the story unfolded like it did, and we were quickly back where we were.

Yeah I'll never forget that moment, it was a lackluster Raw as we all know and I went outside to have a toke just before the main event as I always did, I came back in just as the the destruction was starting I think so I actually missed the start of it. I remember my jaw hit the floor, my fist thought was that Punk had recruited all the NXT guys to form a new Straight Edge Society (funny that Punk would actually go on to be a Nexus leader) having missed them attacking him but I quickly caught on and then obviously have watched it all back in full countless times. One of the all time greatest WWE moments, made you feel like finally something was happening which would make you want to tune in every week. Ironic then that the immidiate firing of Bryan is what turned me off watching Raw for good. For some people it probably wasnt as big a deal as that but I was already on my last legs of watching and when something so good happened only for one of the most interesting elements to be taken away due to the usual corporate crap I just made me go "Yep, of course it had to be ruined straight away, f*** this shit."

Cena returned the following week. This should have been Cena's Earthquake-kills-Hogan moment. Terrific stuff, especially from Bryan!

To this day SummerSlam 2010 and Barret not winning the title still pisses me off immensely

A perfect example of how WWE's single minded obsession with an established star (Cena in this case) ruined one of their potentially best stories in years.
Happened again with HHH and the Summer of Punk, and HHH with the Walkout.

I remember how WWE put out the most mind-numbingly boring show before this. No idea if it was intentional or not but either way, it made this all the more effective and memorable.

If you look at my date registered on this forum you will see that I registered here with this username about an hour after this happened. This was what got me back into wrestling hardcore at the time. I had been watching NXT Season 1 and lurking the forum and if WWE hadn't made NXT seem like such a joke, turning it into Double Dare, there is no way this could have had the same impact. I bet I read that Raw thread 10 times, while watching the attack on my DVR. I remember being so excited that WWE was doing something different.
Oh yeah I that was a terrible show, that was the one that had the stars of the A-Team movie in character and I seem to remember Roddy Piper coming out to yell at Rampage Jackson thinking he was Mr.T.

It's such a bummer to see this amazing debut and think of what could have been.
