I just watched Halloween Havoc 92 on the network and it was a very interesting event history wise.
Right in the middle of Watts era so theres no mats around the ring, the arena looks really stark and plain, They're in Philadelphia and visibly in the crowd is all the ECW fans including Vladmir, Faith No More Guy and Staw Hat Guy among others, The baby faces were booed out of the building and all the heels are cheered and chanted for especially the main heels at this time the Dangerous Alliance who were all Paul E's guys. It was also around the time the Cactus Jack was doing all the kinda proto hardcore stuff with falls count anywhere matches and Vader was stiffing and beating the shit out of everyone. Also at that time you had Steamboat and Pillman and others putting on technical clinics in the ring
It really felt like it was almost an ECW show and at least sowed the seeds for what ECW would become.
Has anyone else watched this show recently or remember it and have an opinion on it?
Also Jesse and JR have no chemistry on commentary at all and just bring each other down so much. Jesse tries to do his back and forth banter like he would with Vince or Monsoon and JR just ignores almost everything he says and just calls the matches like hes not there. Its pretty distracting at times

there's quite a few guys who would end up in ECW too
Dangerous Alliance was over at this point iirc. it way Hayes (getting a push for whatever reason), Anderson and Eaton as a faction

I know I've seen the show before, but I'm going to rewatch it on the network sometime soon now with the Porto ECW show mentality.

Watching this now because of this thread. The card doesn't look very good on paper so hope this is entertaining. Of course I was watching episodes of TNT from 1984 so be hard to get more boring than that.

worth also watching Beach Black 92 and Great American Batch 92 as well If WCW had booked Beach Black to be the guy to take down the dominant monster heel Vader in 92, they would have never had to sign Hogan, create Nitro or book the nWo angle to have WWF on the ropes.

Seems like every WCW PPV in 1992 should have been called "Card Subject to Change".

Was a pretty rowdy rasslin show, really enjoyed it.
The opener was pretty funny with the white-meat faces getting booed while the crafty vets are deafeningly cheered for their treachery. Definitely an ECW feel.
In the middle of the show, Austin/Doc vs. Rhodes/Windham was badass. I also really liked Pillman vs. Steamboat. Vader vs. Koloff was damn good until Koloff kicked out of Vader's splash, after that it felt too long. Heyman's promo on Medusa wasn't good at all compared to his best work, but was effective enough in making me want to see her take his head off.
The card quickly went downhill with Rude vs. Chono, that was pretty damn bad and the last 2 matches were nothing to write home about either. In that way, it did feel like a true WCW card.
