Just watched this a while ago. While i have almost no interest in classical music (unless its being used as wrestling themes), i do have to admit this was a very well done film. Both Salieri and Mozart were well-fleshed out characters and it didnt try to make either one look better than the othr. Whats everyone else think of it?

Great movie featuring amazing music and top of their game performances for everyone involved. Also, Mozart's wife is there on loan from a remedial dinner theater.

I always loved the subtle subtext that Salieri actually did possess a gift from god in the form of appreciating music on a much deeper level than anyone, but completely squanders it in his jealousy of Mozart.

What really stood out to me is near the end; {Spoiler}Where even on his deathbed, Mozart ran circles around Salieri when it came to creating music.

A masterpiece. Just a shame the two leads never really became bigger names in Hollywood. Random fact, this film contains full-frontal nudity, yet it's still a PG.

Great movie. I always found Mr Show's parody of it hilarious too. (potential language warning)

F. Murray Abraham earned the everloving hell out of that Oscar. (Even moreso than Hulce, who was also nominated in the same category)
His elder Salieri scenes are addictive cinema and joyous to watch.

If I recall, the movie plays hilariously loose with real events, and while not Braveheart levels of absurd, it is too a work for entertainment first and foremost. If you don't mind that, it's solid.

Love it. It was a classic when I first saw it.
Also loved the Family Guy spoof.

Just what I came in to post about. They had us watch the movie in middle school, I forget why, and Mozart's laugh became a source of amusement for us. Well that and, for me, seeing the low-cut dresses of the time period...
