The most egregious part of it to me was the stupid pyro mine. The Rusev knocking Cena out thing is stupid because it does open up really terrible logic to the match that the rulebook actually suggests you revive an unconscious man just to make him quit. But if they're splitting Lana and Rusev, ugh, I guess this was a good way to do it. I just loved how the match went from Rusev being blown up in pyro land to casually doing Accolade spots in the ring like nothing happened.

I am surprised the match is getting so much hate, I enjoyed it. Pretty decent ppv overall.

Come to think of it, considering that Rusev didn't quit himself, shouldn't Cena as a face offer him a rematch?
Seems weird that he would go "A-ha, a non-clean victory still counts! I'm the best! Back to the start of the line with you."

Back to the start of the line with you." They announced that it as the final chapter tonight and since Lana asked the Authority directly for this rematch it can be inferred that the authority said no more chances. But Technically there's nothing stopping Rusev from answering the open challenge.

I thought it was great. Cena going for what he knows works since he has had so many of them, Rusev looking like the biggest badass in WWE and Lana's concern for him after all he took and the damage being done to Rusev's leg (seriously, the commentary helps people) forcing her to use her managerial abilities to step in was well done. I'll be perfectly honestly. If this match was with literally anybody else but Cena, I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more. The fact that I knew Cena was never gonna say "I-Quit" really took away from it. If it had been with someone who has actually given up before or shown vunerability in a situation like this, it would have been a lot more effective for me.

I'll give them props for 1 thing.
It completely wiped out the Russian Strap match from my mind. God.

I went in knowing Cena would win and was just hoping they wouldn't kill Rusev. Seeing all they went through and then not killing Rusev off was what kept me liking it. Rusev himself quits or doesn't take much to get there and I'd have hated this for sure.

Funniest part of the whole thing was that not even 20 minutes later, Rusev is just walking around totally fine backstage. Almost as if this was all fake...

It wasn't bad.
That being said, I never wanna see John Cena vs. Rusev on Raw, SmackDown, Main Event, or any PPV ever again.

Now Rusev is in the same boat as Wyatt was a year ago this time...possibly worse. Especially if the focus will be on Lana leaving him. The only way I can see them salvaging him is to have him win the IC Chamber match.

That's what I was confused about. If you kill the guy is it a no contest? Honestly though, Rusev came off like a total badass tonight. But it won't matter because that asshole has the audacity to not be from America, so I'm sure this will be as high as he ever goes despite being one of the most talented guys in the company.

The only way I can see them salvaging him is to have him win the IC Chamber match. They really need some expendable main event face. Neither Ambrose nor Reigns can really afford to lose to him right now, and Orton probably wouldn't be that great a conquest either coming off of two consecutive losses to Rollins. Rusev should be moving up the card particularly given the lack of heels in the main event scene who actually belong there, but it's hard to see him really having anywhere at all to go at this point but down to the midcard where he'll suddenly be losing to people he was way above before.

Rusev won't have a manager soon. Heyman doesn't have an active client. Maybe that could help??

Rusev won't have a manager soon. Heyman doesn't have an active client. Maybe that could help?? He might be fine on his own. I think he's really good on the mic, his character is a cliche but he delivers his promos with such a passion it's believable, he riled up the anti-Cena crowd well enough before the match all on his own. It's just a matter of WWE not losing interest because they found a cooler toy to play with. I don't find Rusev to be in as bad a spot as Wyatt was because by the end of the Wyatt feud they didn't even attempt to make it look like Bray could conceivably beat Cena. It took him 30 minutes to beat Rusev. It's not the end yet.

That match was a perfect representation of what it's like to be a WWE fan. They give you reasons to quit every five seconds, but you refuse. Then Cena wins.

I am just confused because I had always had the belief that someone passing out in an "I Quit" match ends it similar to how Austin passing out at Wresltemania 13 ended the submission match. He didn't technically submit but was physically unfit to continue and the match had to be stopped.

Can't wait till tomorrow to see how Cena doesn't sell how brutal this match was.

Can't wait till tomorrow to see how Cena doesn't sell how brutal this match was. Why wait until tomorrow? Cena basically said he's completely fine and he's defending his title tomorrow to someone else who has a chance to beat him. Cena tossed tonight's match to the side.

F-ing hell. Can't wait for him to leave. Which means he's gonna be part of the WWE forever.

The match was fine, but clearly by doing both the homage to Bragging Rights 2009 with the pyro and the Royal Rumble 2007 finish they ran out of ideas for Cena I Quit/Last Man Standing matches a long time ago. It's been 10 years. The dude will never quit. We get it.
