It was a good match with a meh ending where Cena once again comes out on top after Rusev was undefeated going into the Cena feud.
Not really interesting after the fact.

Rusev won't have a manager soon. Heyman doesn't have an active client. Maybe that could help?? Sure, what could possibly go wrong...

The match was fine, but clearly by doing both the homage to Bragging Rights 2009 with the pyro and the Royal Rumble 2007 finish they ran out of ideas for Cena I Quit/Last Man Standing matches a long time ago. It's been 10 years. The dude will never quit. We get it. They did the throwing the steps from last year and the tackle through the wall he seems to do in every big match anymore too, plus the AA on the steps from the Lesnar match. The whole thing was just a bunch of Cena matches cobbled together and made worse than all of them except maaaaaybe the Iron Man match, on the basis at least this one was just a half hour of garbage instead of a full hour.

Killing the momentum every minute by asking them if they wanted to quit really ruined it. That's not engaging, no matter how much they wanted it to be.

It doesn't have anything to do with the match but I couldn't think of any other place to put this, but I just saw a Budweiser commercial and the music sounded like what Rusev's music will be once he turns into a sunglasses wearing hip-hop/comedy dancer.

I feel like someone should start one of those timer things like with "Is JTG still employed?" but instead it's "Is Rusev a dancing comedy face yet?".

Come to think of it, considering that Rusev didn't quit himself, shouldn't Cena as a face offer him a rematch? Seems weird that he would go "A-ha, a non-clean victory still counts! I'm the best! Back to the start of the line with you." This was Rusev's second rematch. No need for a third. I'm good.

Can't wait till tomorrow to see how Cena doesn't sell how brutal this match was. Why wait until tomorrow? Cena basically said he's completely fine and he's defending his title tomorrow to someone else who has a chance to beat him. Cena tossed tonight's match to the side. Isn't Cena supposed to be a fighting champion who will put his title on the line every week? Now Rusev is in the same boat as Wyatt was a year ago this time...possibly worse. Especially if the focus will be on Lana leaving him. The only way I can see them salvaging him is to have him win the IC Chamber match. They really need some expendable main event face. Neither Ambrose nor Reigns can really afford to lose to him right now, and Orton probably wouldn't be that great a conquest either coming off of two consecutive losses to Rollins. Rusev should be moving up the card particularly given the lack of heels in the main event scene who actually belong there, but it's hard to see him really having anywhere at all to go at this point but down to the midcard where he'll suddenly be losing to people he was way above before. They should try elevating a face for the explicit purpose of having Rusev go over them.

Isn't Cena supposed to be a fighting champion who will put his title on the line every week? No one said he isn't. But there's a difference between selling a beatdown and mentioning what'll happen the next night. He should have sold Rusev's assault more, say something like "if I'm able to compete tomorrow then yeah I'll do another challenge" and he'd still be legit as a fighting champion. There was no need to no-sell the match.

The most egregious part of it to me was the stupid pyro mine. The Rusev knocking Cena out thing is stupid because it does open up really terrible logic to the match that the rulebook actually suggests you revive an unconscious man just to make him quit. But if they're splitting Lana and Rusev, ugh, I guess this was a good way to do it. The worst part is how lightly guys like Cena take being choked unconscious. "Meh, might die. Probably not though. At least I won't quit." I thought the match was a lot better than their previous two, though. I thought Chioda was too much of a pest, sometimes Rusev had already said no but Chioda kept shoving the mic in his face. But it did break the mold and had a fun, chaotic feeling to it.

Aside from the mostly predictable and lame ending, I really enjoyed the match.

Killed I Quit matches for me. A regular falls count anyywhere would of been better. Taking it to the streets/end up in a bar or something.

I didn't mind the finish because it meant that the match was over.

Aside from the mostly predictable and lame ending, I really enjoyed the match. This right here. Match made Rusev look like a gigantic badass, and even the ending would've been okay had it been pulled off better (I get why they can't have Cena legit choke a dude but the way they did it just looked awful). I'd even go so far as to say this is the first worthwhile I Quit match WWE's had since Cena/JBL in 05.

Stop with the I Quit matched. The atmosphere the WWE has set up is that no top tier babyface will ever quit and will instead pass out and risk permanite injury and/or brain damage to save face in front of the WWE Universe.

See, I would say that the ref is asking because the guy sees what's coming and asking if he wants to avoid it, but I remember a couple of times where that happened to Rusev and he wasn't even looking at what Cena was holding/doing. The commentators (Lawler I think) actually said that one of the times it happened. For the record I was DMing a D&D session at the time and had it on in the background... from what I enjoyed what I saw of the match but my attention wasn't entirely on it. Dungeons and Dragons will never quit!

To the guys saying that Chioda was annoying by constantly asking during the match, did you notice that he was asking because Cena or Rusev kept telling him to ask? Not being a dick but that's just what I saw.
