Not trying to start an argument here, just really trying to get to the root of all this. It seemed to me that Chris was the internets golden boy for such a long time, even more so after his first departure from WWE... then he returned which was great, then returned again etc... Skip forward to now and I see a bunch of threads pretty much calling the dude a waste of space.
Personally I love the guy, he's still doing house shows because of his love for the sport, and on the rare occasion he does appear on television it's to put newer guys over (although it's happened so often now any shock value has bled out long ago).
Does he have an ego? Sure, if the dude was a choc ice he'd eat the shit out of himself, but he also has the legacy to back it up. Plus on the whole he seems like a cool guy and doesn't mind admitting in his books when he was wrong or acted the prick.
I just really don't understand why people have turned on him. Maybe it's because he tried and failed to make himself a Rock level star? But that doesn't make sense, dude is past his peak, nothing wrong with securing a future cash flow.
As I said, not looking for a war of words, just a passive explanation on why people have soured on an (my opinion) a inspiration to the the smaller guys in WWE... We all gotta clean up Stephanie's dog shit at some point.

What pissed a lot of people off was him defending Bill DeMott's style of training.

He's become an irritating yes man who thinks he's smarter than he is. My biggest problem is him insisting all his ideas are clever and that he's constantly working the fans when everyone always figures out exactly what he's doing. That and he parrots the stupid "If you're not a wrestler, you can't criticize wrestling" idiocy

Don't worry guys! I'm gonna conduct this thread MY WAY! No corporate bullshit from me!

He defended Reigns when that was a bad idea.
People say it was the Demott stuff but I didn't see the crap storm come down upon him till he said Reigns was good during the Mania build.

I've hated him a few years now just on the basis of being boring and seeming like a douche, but a lot of the recent things he's said on things like DeMott, on the fans booing things they don't like, and some other stuff hasn't helped.

For me it was 4 returns ago when I finally realized he was doing nothing different from 6 returns ago except looking more and more like a midlife crisis player. I guess that was just indifference though and it was everything podcast-forward that has made me detest seeing or hearing anything from him ever again.

I guess, but would that rob you of all the good stuff he's brought?

I've said it before, what's puzzling is not that people turned on him, but just how quickly they did.
Like one day it was "Y2J! YAY!" and the next "f*** JERICHO!"
That said, I still like the dude.

He doesn't come off as sincere a lot of the time. It feels like a lot of what he says is designed not to piss off people above him. Also it seems like he rarely sticks with his own opinions and tends to back down to a degree when he's called out on it. Like the thing where he called out fans for daring to boo Roman Reigns, then on his podcast backed off saying it was just his opinion, he wasn't blaming the fans, despite everything else pointing to the contrary.

I love Jericho the wrestler, still, right up to when he was on Raw and got destroyed by Lesnar last December, but I think as a 'personality' he's irritating and vapid.

I don't think I've ever hated anything he's done in ring but he's gotten more and more annoying on the microphone to me. That podcast with Stephanie was just awful.

Jericho's been shit since he first came back in 2007 2008 Wrestler of the Year and 2008 Feud of the Year w/ Shawn Michaels would indicate otherwise.

He is one of my favourites of all time in the ring, and I am one of the apparently few people who thinks that 2008 serious heel run was the peak of his career. I don't really give a shit if he shares my opinion about Roman Reigns, Bill DeMott, Hillary Clinton, Peewee Herman, Digby the biggest dog in the world, or Jose Lothario.

I didn't really start disliking Jericho until I paid attention to his social media exploits, podcast and interview comments. If it's just within the realm of WWE? He's cool but once you get beyond that he appears to be way too conceited and full of himself. I mean he's got some great points, I agree with a lot of what he says but eh. In a way he reminds me of a rapper who's gone from being humble to full of themselves.
