It went downhill drastically when Amstell left.
the last few seasons were sad to watch, Gillbert didn't suit the show at all and the guest hosts were hit and miss. I'm glad its been put out of its misery.

Whoever chose Rhod Gilbert was an idiot, he even admits he knows nothing about music.
The show lost it's edge which was such a big part of the Lammar/Amstell years, it wasn't as nasty anymore, it became more like the BBCs other friendly panel shows.

It was never the same after Mark Lamarr left. The last few series he did when Bill Bailey replaced Sean Hughes were the golden period of the show. I don't mind Simon Amstell but I agree with Phill Jupitus in that it seemed they were booking guests purely for Amstell to rip the piss out of. The guest host era was Hit and miss, for every great host likeTerry Wogan or Adam Buxton there was Lee Westwood or Mark Ronson. I actually thought they were a bit too cruel to Preston in that infamous episode. I'm no fan of his and always thought he was a one-hit wonder who over-valued his position in the music world but when they started being nasty about his wife, I don't blame him for getting pissed off. Walking off may have made him look bad but it made Amstell look like a twat too IMO.

Simon Amstell is amazing. I'm probably in the minority who preferred him to Mark.

Simon Amstell is amazing. I'm probably in the minority who preferred him to Mark. I'm more a fan of Amstell too, he was good on popworld as well. The sitcom he did after leaving Buzzcocks was terrible though. He was on an episode of the nerdist podcast recently promoting his new stand up tour.

I enjoyed Amstell on it much more than I thought I would, I stopped watching regularly around the time he left.

Damn shame. But I'll second what everyone else said, wasn't the same after Amstell left.

I always thought it was dreadful to be honest. I tried watching it a few times and just never found it funny or entertaining. Then again I hate most panel type shows filled with "comedians" trying too hard to be funny every few seconds.

I would've always watched Buzzcocks except when the guest host was someone shitty.
Rhod was the wrong fit for the show, he really was.
