Before anyone says really or oh my god not another remake, they ready remade Point Break in 2001 just ten years after the original called The Fast and the Furious. Now it's one of the most successful film franchises of all time with each sequel more commercially and critically successful than the last one

(guarantee at least one movie critic will use that line when it comes out too.) Also it was remade again in Hot Fuzz well teh original ending was spoofed... it should count

Movie budgets increased, special effects gotten better, stunts are getting bigger (they actually dropped those cars off a plane for real in Furious 7), and Swayze is dead and Keanu isn't interested. Plus it's not like lots of the Fast and Furious Films main theme was running from the law anymore but rather than working with them. So it's been a while

I bet if this wasn't named Point Break, people would actually be for seeing this. I am not generally opposed to remakes, even though some weren't exactly satisfying from the past few years. The RoboCop remake wasn't that great. The remake of Red Dawn was just standard action fare, but I enjoyed it as a time-waster than anything (Hell, I saw it in theaters in the middle of the day during the week).
By the way, some of the elements remind me so much of xXx, but without the whole spy element and trying to be like James Bond.

Yeah, it looks like the new Bond films, which I find really boring.
Even just as a non remake, its not something I'd really be into.

Well, we knew the day would come when people would start remaking 90s films.
BTW....surprisingly, I checked the cast & crew and I have only heard of 3 people. One of them is the screenwriter and I have heard of him thanks to the crappy Ultraviolet movie.

Sorry, but no one is an adequate replacement for Patrick Swayze.

That's a HUGE insult to the Daniel Craig Bond movies, which have considerably better actors, directors, and everything else under the sun. Which is why remaking Point Break right now is pointless. So it's been a while Because it has a $110 million budget, no name actors (sans Ray Winstone, who isn't a household name) and it comes out the same day as The Force Awakens.

So it's been a while Because it has a $110 million budget, no name actors (sans Ray Winstone, who isn't a household name) and it comes out the same day as The Force Awakens. Well that's the studios fault for releasing it on the same day as f***ing Star Wars. But if it's a huge budget movie with no name actors, it could either mean an inexperienced director with disastrous production, too much CGI, or we're seeing real f***ing practical stunts like actual cars being launched from a plane (Furious 7) or an actual plane being dropped in the middle of nowhere (Dark Knight Rises) where it takes months of pre planning and shooting the scenes. I haven't seen the original so I'm trying to be positive. Also that's what's intriguing about the film to me, new no name actors being thrown into the spotlight. Like Teresea Palmer is the biggest name heading into this movie. Seems like every movie these days is filled with at least one big name actor so this is intriguing
