I remember hearing about this years ago but i've actually only just seen it thanks to the Network.
Basically, for those who haven't seen it (and if you do want to see it, it's on the April 20th 1998 episode of RAW), Kane and Paul Bearer dig up Taker's parents and bring the caskets out on stage. Paul Bearer sets Dad's casket on fire and Kane chokeslams Undertaker THROUGH his mother's casket. All with closeups of bones and worms etc.
I was just wondering how that was received at the time? It barely ever gets mentioned but it seems it should be in the same category as Big Show's father's funeral and Katie Vick.
A truly heinous act.. but nevermind that here's Dude Love vs Steve Blackman!

Honestly, it was just par for the course during the Attitude era. I don't recall any outrage whatsoever. By that point in time it was kind of accepted that this was the direction the WWF was going in.

How about the angle where they implied that Taker's mom was a, well, a w-word by revealing that Paul Bearer was Kane's dad.

I was so wrapped up in the storyline that I was just like "damn that Paul Bearer!"
Looking back it's like Tales From The Crypt: Extra Hokey.

As a kid, I ate all of that Undertaker/Kane shit up.
I went nuts when Undertaker sat up on the casket and finally agreed to fight Kane at WM.

I think if it was with any other two characters in history, it would have been hated and people would look back at it being corny and stupid.
But for me at least, it isn't. I recently watched it again as part of my 1998 Raw marathon and I still found it entertaining. There was something dark about it that still drew me in.

Outrage during the Attitude Era?
Steve Austin could've cut Vinces leg off on live t.v and no fudges wouldve been given.
The 90s were good times.

Considering they could conjure up lightning bolts by just a wave of their hands, digging up bodies is rather tame.
