Just watched this weeks Smackdown and the opening promo from Seth was pretty damn good, but Ambrose just nails it every week.
Now he actually has something of substance to do and isn't wacky crazy guy, his promo's have been consistently excellent. Genuine sounding, believable, original.. He's always been good but now I'd say he's the best in the company.
Thoughts?

Yes, if for no other reason than he's like the only guy in the company that can take long, scripted material and not make it SOUND like he's reading off a script and that's it's all of the top of his head.

No. He's excellent though and his mic work matches his character.

Not for me. He tries too hard to sound "crazy". Comes across as forced

I think Cena and Owens are better. Heyman is probably the best, but I assume you're talking about wrestlers.

Dean Ambrose on my TV is one of the rare times I will stop whatever I am doing and watch the program. The guy's entire presentation is captivating, even if he is doing stupid stuff like stealing title belts.
Which is weird, because when I hear him do podcast interviews, I think he is so dull and uninteresting. Might just be the tone of voice which gives one of those "I really don't wanna be here" vibes.

I wouldn't say he's the best, but he's easily one of the best.

Nah, I think Rusev and Owens are both better. They feel more real, more genuine with what they say.

Potentially, he's the best. Like I could see him cutting a better promo than anyone in WWE given the right motivation/subject matter etc.. Current circumstances, he's top 5 but there's a few people better who have better characters going on, resulting in better promos.

If he could tone himself down, as he has proven he can do, he could be up there, rather than be a bad Roddy Piper.

He's one of the best but no Cena is still the best promo as far as active people go. Heyman when he comes in makes everybody step their game up. Solid nods to Rusev and Rollins quietly making their talk games their top assets.

The best promo in the company? Nope, that's a guy that hasn't been on television in a while, and isn't a wrestler. The best promo in the company is Paul Heyman.

The Smackdown promo was good, and is a good medium for him between the WWE-style goofy crap he has been given, and the old over-the top indie stuff he did. He sounded like a star on Smackdown.
One of the best definitely.

Bray Wyatt could still be a good promo guy-if he tried saying something different once in a while

If we aren't including Heyman then I'm saying Owens. The guy is killing it. Heyman is the top mic guy in wrestling though.

Heyman goes without saying. Clear cut #1.
I still don't think Ambrose is #1. I am gonna join the club and put both Owens and Cena ahead. Owens over Cena currently. Cena's promo on Raw the night after Elimination Chamber probably caused Owens to leapfrog. It did not fit the tone or the direction of the story being told at all. Actually, the first promo from a wrestler that has rubbed me wrong in a while.
Ambrose and Woods are probably the next best 2 I would say.

Heyman is by far the best promo cutter in the WWE. Like there is a huge distance in between him and the #2 guy of the company. He's that good. I think the second best guy in the company is honestly John Cena. Yes his scripts usually sucks, as well with shrugging off major events, sounding really phony at times, and his humour sucks. But he can draw attention to himself better then any wrestler in the company right now to the point we are obsessively dissecting everything Cena has to say. Plus dude is amazing when he has to call an audible and wing a promo up in midair.
Plus I usually find Cena's promos are often some of the most interesting parts of the show if not the most interesting at times.

I'm going to say something that will probably get me laughed at:
I think Big Show is the second best wrestler for promos after Cena. Dude knows how to own the room and can work with basically nothing.
