Bottom line: A loud crowd is a good crowd. Doesn't matter if you think they're "trying to be clever" or whatever else. If they're making noise, guess what? They're enjoying the show. Period.

Has anyone ever started a "No it isn't" or something to duel with "This is awesome" chants? Not a chant per se, but there's a certain fan in this area who greets every wrestler that comes out with "You think you're so cool?" ad nauseum (and I do mean NAUSE-um). That's all he does. Literally. It doesn't help that we found out that said fan is really a horrible person #RIR. There was a match in TNA, I think it was Mr. Anderson vs. RVD to determine the number one contender on a pay-per-view. Match wasn't all that great and it ended in a double countout, meaning there was no real conclusion. So the split crowd started chanting this: "Restart the match" "NO!" "Restart the match" "NO!"

To me there is a huge difference between chanting something to show how much you are enjoying the match, and trying to get yourself over. Stuff like "This is awesome" and "This is wrestling" are at least showing you are enjoying the match. "We are awesome" and smarky chants that have nothing to do with either person in the ring are trying to get yourself over. If you want to get over,go get trained and become a legit part of the show. From talking to various wrestlers they all hate it when the crowd tries to get themselves over. Most of them find it disrespectful. And this is coming from vets that have been around 20 years and rookies.
Most indies are always looking for extra help. Even if it is just passing out flyers, helping set up chairs. Or as I have done, filming matches. Almost 3 years ago I started hitting most of the indy shows in my area. And would take pics from the crowd. Now the two main feds I goto had a ringside photographer. But it would take him days to get his pictures posted. I would have mine up the same night as the show. So the owners of both feds started asking if they could use my pictures. Then in mid 2013 I discovered my camera can do decent 720p footage. So I filmed one match. Asked permission from the fed's owner before I posted it online. He said it was ok. Well after that another fan started filming the entire show from the crowd and posting the matches. Now he does commentary while filming and I don't. Skip ahead to July 2014. We are both at a NWA BIW show in my town. The other guy had gotten a tripod for his camera. He was sitting at the end of the row so started setting up his tripod. The promoter came over and told us "Hell guys if you want yall can set up on the stage." And since then at every BIW show we are there filming from the stage. Then at the Powerslam show in May of this year, their normal camera man had moved up to being a ref. So the owner asked us to film the show for them. So by being at the shows, getting to know the promoters and owners we have become the camera crew for both feds. Now I prefer to do roaming camera and no commentary. Mostly cause I love capturing the crowd noise. But when I am not filming a match I join the other guy on commentary. Now so far we don't get paid for doing this. But we do get invited after every show to go eat with the promoter and wrestlers. Like the last Powerslam show. It was the same day as the Mayweather fight. After the show we all met at a Mexican place in the next big town. And I got to hear lots of great stories about one guys time in FCW. Plus lots of great stories about various indy feds and wrestlers in the deep south.
TLDR Even if you can't be a wrestler there are still ways to be part of the show. It just takes time and effort.

i am not very fond of the "you f'd up" chants. i think it's disrespectful. they know they messed up and are only human and how would you like everyone at work saying that to you every time you made a mistake? just how i feel
