I was supposed to be taking off tomorrow through monday to go to San Antonio and visit my parents, it was approved by them, and they said if I had to work a Saturday, I'd have to switch with somebody, ok, no big deal.
Where I work, we have one required Saturday a month, you basically look at a calendar, see which one is yours, and go to work that day (it bumps your paycheck way up, and it's only once a month, not so bad), BUT, if you miss that Saturday for any circumstance, you're punished and given TWO for the next month which you can not switch or get out of.
Somehow, last month it said I had to work July 1st. I did. Yesterday I found out I No-Called-No-Showed my required, which was..the 29th? (WTF?), I even went to the front desk and looked at their records (calendar and all) and it said the 29th. I have no idea how that happened, as when I looked at it earlier that month IT SAID THE 1st and nobody argued the point that this wasn't my required when I got there.
So I had to have my flight rescheduled (which is $$$ which we really can't afford), and now I have to work all of the days I took off and hope they'll approve me taking off the same way NEXT WEEK.
I also have to work this weekend and the 19th. I'm pissed, but since my car insurance is already paid for this month, that just means they're gonna make me rich, suckers.
Either way..I am so pissed off and I would like to punch the face of every higherup at that place (moreso than usual).

In my constant workplace paranoia, I would advise you to pursue this rather formally at least to the point of writing a letter for your personnel file that you reported for duty on the 1st as scheduled and that the reason you missed the 29th was that the company made the mistake on the calendar, which was changed and did NOT say the 29th previously. It's a simple calendar mistake, but a No Call/No Show is actually very serious and legally you could be terminated without unemployment benefits for it.

Shame on you Void. As a former participant to Lugermania, the appropriate title for your thread should be "So my job has me rather PISSED NOW!"

Remember what Brian Pillman always said....
"A real man doesn't quit. A real man GETS FIRED!"

Yep.
I mean, it could be my mistake just as much as theirs, maybe they hadn't updated the calendars yet, June was still up, and I thought it said Jul. 1st instead of Jun 1st. Who knows. All I know is I'm PISSED NOW and if they pull more stuff like this on me I'm gonna consider it a disgusting...despi..despicable, *sigh* lack of respect.

I'm sure you getting more hours than I am. I have always been used to working full time and getting paid decent but now I get neither of those. I just started at this store about a month or so ago and I think things are going pretty good. But even the new people that got hired after me are getting more hours than I am. I got lucky this past week and picked up a few days but I know that won't happen every week. My luck with jobs just plain f'n sucks since we moved up north. It figures this would be the first job I would take after not working very much in the past year. It's stupid because all they want you to do is be pushy salesman and get them(customers) to buy as much crap as possible. They should have commissioned salesman since that's all they really care about is selling people crap. Instead, I get a crappy wage and crappy hours. If I weren't doing my job I would be man enough to admit it but I'm working my tail off. Time to check my usual job websites and see if something comes up. Fudge 'em. I would rather be working full time and getting paid decent myself.
